Surely autoblogging software is a load of rubbish?

Does autoblog software really work? What I mean is:

"Is it REALLY possible to get traffic to your blog JUST with on page SEO and automatically generated content?"

If it really is, why would anyone have to work for a living. Just set these auto-blogs running and count the cash.

This is a genuine question - I've not used any of these systems, but maybe I should.

Anyone had any success with getting traffic, and therefore income, without off-page SEO or traffic generation?

    I totally agree. Any success will be short lived. If you build a site people love, you will have something that provided you with income for years to come. Why waste your time with short term stuff that will fail?

    I've got 2 autoblogs. One was a totally different website for a while before I got tired of it and turned it into the autoblog. It still get ~50UV each day but the Adsense clicks are few and far between. The second one was just an "I'm bored, I'm going to throw a subdomain on one of my sites" kind of thing. So I did and it gets content fed to it daily. It's bringing in ~20UV daily without any promotion but no Adsense clicks so far.

    So if your goal is to get traffic to a website without doing any work, autoblogging does work. But if you want to make money without doing any work, you may want to consider sitting on a street corner with a tin can and a sign that makes people feel bad for you.

    Agreed that any success will be very short lived, if you have any success with it at all. Its much better to build a site with value that people are genuinely interested in.

      What makes you think that you shouldn't be doing off-page SEO and traffic generation?

      The smartest people using autoblogging software will use it as a way to keep content high but not to use it exclusively. Add some unique content only instead of having to blog daily, only post new content weekly. And still build backlinks and do normal traffic generation.

      The software will make it easier for you but it doesn't eliminate all the work, not if you want real lasting success.

        yes, i agree with tina i was impressed with the wprobot as it works automaticaally but if we could use it on the way we want then it has much potentail to our besiness.

        Tina I don't think that. That's the whole purpose of the question. The question is about whether autoblog software on it's own can drive traffic.

        It seems unlikely to me that it could, but frankly the sales letters I've seen for autoblog software imply that it will work that way - just set up your site they say, let the software do everything, and retire to the Carribean. Hmmm.

        So I'd really like to hear if anybody has successfully generated blog traffic with no off-site SEO.

        Anyone?

    There is only few people that knows how to set up autoblogs effectively and make money with it.
    one of my newest autoblogs get more than 150 visitors a day and my oldest get more than 2000 hits a day )

      Now that's quite impressive. No offsite SEO on these? Or a combo strategy as recommended by others on this thread?

    By and large, set and forget autoblogs *may* work, but the real money winners use autoblogs in a hybrid mode. 80/20 or 70/30 dupe:unique content works well for me.
