It's the process of creating, unique exciting and content that other internet sites will want to link to. It can also involve contacting other webmaster directly and asking for reciprocal links

      This is the correct definition.

But I believe the general definition isn't quite accurate. My own definition is a page or site that I can build links to that no one will complain about, as opposed to saying link bait brings links naturally.

Truth is, you can't get links naturally until you get links "unnaturally". You have to tell SOMEONE your page is up to get a link.

A linkbait is basically some sort of content that other people will want to link to. For instance if you write a very interesting article or Ebook on a topic that has some sort of high value you've created a linkbait.

However you need to consider the reality that people won't find your linkbait on their own. You either have to have some sort of traffic to your website or simply use social media to spread the word about your link bait.

Let's say you have created a unique interesting report on CPA marketing and want to share it for free. However people only gain access to it on your site ( they can't download it or share it) other webmasters will want to link to your report because they want to give value to their readers and they find what you are offering very interesting.

Better way - build links naturally. Agree with Kurt.

Oh please... this is so obvious.

In this particular case it is a short question that one posts on a forum like the Warrior forum for the purpose of getting signature links.

You could take the same question and repeat it a thousand times by simply replacing the keyword. This in not a legitimate post, in my opinion. The OP obviously didn't Google the question and made no indication of having a specific question, just abusing this forum.

Is this what has become of the Warrior Forum? How lame can it get?

If you see an interesting post from this forum means you got link baited because of the title or content within that post. I guess this is simple enough.
