I'm trying to index a lot of forum profiles backlinks but days go by and nothing.

I created the profiles, put the links, I ping them, used rss bot to submit each of them to rss agregators, I bookmarked them in digg.com, and still nothing.

what else should I do?

It's frustrating cause my competition has 100 backlinks from forum profiles and it's number 1 and I am in position 8 with 1000 backlinks from blogs with high page rank...

Please help...

Thanks!

When I gather forum backlinks I:
    > Pick popular forums related to the niche of the site I'm promoting,
    > I add links to my site through my signature,
    > And then I post all over the forum just being an all-round helpful guy
    > Ping

Why would you submit random forum posts to Digg?
You're not going to gather attention via Digg unless you create VERY interesting and innovative posts.

And above all be patient, SEO is like a marathon race, not a sprint, if you get my drift.
Sometimes it may take up to 6 months to see results (depending on the market).

Exactly. Patience is key. Some are advocating to boost your backlinks with tools such as backlink energizer, or backlink index express and others are suggesting just let googlebot find them by itself.

Test, test and test is my best advice...

Agreed. The waiting sucks, but it's part of the game.

You are assuming that the backlinks make him #1.
You are assuming if you get more backlinks, then you will be #1.

You need to work on your site content and onpage SEO first.
And concentrate on high PR backlinks.

Digg is pretty useless for anyone starting out.

You can't force google to like, let alone index, a backlink. No matter
what line anyone has been feeding you.

A link in your sig here actually works wonders...

    Orvn saved me the trouble...

Quality, not quantity. The vast majority of the time when I do keyword research I see a PR0-1 page with just TEN backlinks easily beating a PR3-4 page with 1000+ backlinks.

Google is not stupid. Quality backlinks from highly relevant / high-PR sources win.

    Pretty simple.
