Local Search SERP

I've been curious about the "local search" serps. If you will search in Google, location + keyword, there will be a small gmap showing, and a list of the sites on its right site. And then, the original google search serp list will be shown at the bottom of that block.

My question is, does it worth to be on rank 1 of loation+keyword term? Or should I forget to be on rank 1, and focus more to get listed in the gmap serp (local business listng)?

    Local results are bound with keyword to particular city/state/county. My suggestion is try in both ways like locally and globally.

      What listing gets much more traffic? the "local business serps" or the "original google serps" that is in the bottom of local business serps?

    I've been experimenting with local results a lot lately, see this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...l-traffic.html

    It really does depend on your business type. Are you marketing outside of the locale? If not, then you're going to want virtually every keyword to give you an edge locally, whether that means throwing in the name of a city before AND after each keyword or using area-specific terms.

    It isn't hard to push your Google map result. Just get a whole bunch of friends with Google accounts to write up positive reviews and give a ★★★★★ rating. It'll get there after a month.

    If you focus on the actual keyword and simply add various terms within your page signifying location, it should work well that way.
