I'm finally doing something right

I decided to check my AdSense account to see if there was any activity. Haven't seen a whole lot over the last sixteen months. My earnings through last week were $2.00 and some change.

I did get some clicks a few days ago and made $0.73. Then nothing for two days. But yesterday and today are a little better. I made nearly six bucks yesterday, and another four bucks today so far. I am getting just over a dollar per click, so that is pretty good in my opinion. Much better than I have been doing anyway.

So now I got to go look at the articles I posted the last two days (six of them) and see what is getting me the revenue and try to repeat it and increase it. My click-through rate is pretty dismal at less than 1%. So I am not sure what I should do to make that better.

Anyway, I was just a little happy about this, and wanted to share it. And just to show that if you don't give up, sooner or later you will figure out how to do it. Even though it took me a hell of a long time, and I am still not ripping it up. It is a start.

    Congrats, Tim!

I love it when people succeed! Contrary to popular belief!

    Keep it going!

We all feel your past pain.

Just when you think you've got it going, you get a lousy day.

But overall, if you just keep on keeping on, things only get better!

There are various things you can do to increase your CTR, you've
heard em all. Test, test, test, and be patient. Just don't get discouraged
if you have a lousy day after a few great ones. It happens.

Great feeling, isn't it? To get a few bucks? Let it prod you on!

    Your story is quite normal.

That's pretty cool man, not sure how much traffic you're getting, but think you could make more $ not with adsense?

Maybe use an aggressive bribe to get opt in emails, and that way you can keep sending them back to your site, and build a relationship + make more money through sending related offers

Good luck man and keep it up ( maybe think a little bigger though to get more traffic don't be scared to go after keywords with a little more competition)

Well I have about doubled my visits since I first posted, but haven't made any more money. I am up to 980 visitors for the day, so far. According to StatCounter, I have had 21 clicks this month to googleads.g.doubleclick.net, yet AdSense shows 12 clicks for the month. I have read what others have said about G shaving the clicks, and now I know what they are talking about.

I can't find out how to connect AdSense and Analytics together. From what I have read, it may not be available in my area yet. That is too bad.

Ah well, there is still more time left in the day. And then tomorrow is another day. Maybe we can do better tomorrow.

I know you are probably successful at other things, but once the
adsense ball starts rolling, it's hard to focus on other stuff!

I don't believe google shaves clicks. The internet is not perfect.
Google probably does as good a job as can be keeping track.

They do have to look after their paying customers first, and err on
      their side.

Things happen fast and furious, and no tracking, stats, etc. can ever
keep up 100% of the time.

I would now concentrate on improving CTR.

I have wanted to give this tip before, but shy away from such stuff
because it won't work for everyone and they should test.

But I myself had a site with a very low CTR. I always use 3 ad blocks.
And I always go with just text. On this site, I said what the heck.
I made one image only, one image and text, and one just text.
The CTR took off like a shot. If you are omitting image ads completely,
you are probably not getting the highest paid ads. This site was a text-
heavy site, and the images actually spiced it up.

Its good. I just want to know what do you mean from Articles? Do you mean the articles you have posted in your website or articles you have written in article directories?
If you have written some articles in articles directories and they driven such traffic for you, please share the name of those directories.
Also if these articles are written in your website,
how did you brought traffic for the, and why you couldnt do it before?

Sorry I didn't say that the articles were posted to my website.

The articles got that traffic because I got lucky and the keywords were in demand. My traffic is coming from Google and Google news almost exclusively. People are just searching for those terms the last few days. It will die down dramatically when the demand for these keywords subsides.

Why couldn't I do it before? Because I never had a Google News approved site before and I could never get my blog articles to the first page of Google. I had 1,890 page views yesterday, and 1,755 unique visitors. For a news site, this is not real impressive. But it is the best I have ever done, so I am happy for now.
