cpl of basic seo questions

Hi Guys
I'm new on here and although I suspect I'm not doing the things your doing I am after the same result and you guys seem to really know your stuff.

I have a small plumbing and heating company and I have a main site this page has links to all our different services eg new boilers , bathrooms etc etc.

My aim for the forseeable future is to work on one landing page at a time and make this a page of its own but the url is very very long.

My questions are I want this subsidery page to rank well in google on its own if I am to start collecting back links would I need them to point at this particular page or the main site ?

Is my extremely long and clumbsy url of any downfall to me ?

Anyone got any pointers comments on my seo effots for my first subsidery page ?

    Hi Dave,

    You will need to build backlinks to the page you wish to rank in the search results pages. Without seeing the url of the page you are refering to its difficult to say whether there is a solution to make it smaller, easier to read and more search engine friendly.
