I have had my website up and running since the last couple of months and yet the PR remains at 0. I have read the internet on all the dos and don'ts and still can't figure out a way to get the PR to rise. The site is indexed by Google, and does show in search results. It is W3C compliant and I have also managed a few backlinks. If I put my website on the page rank checkers on Google, it shows no links, but on Yahoo and other search engines, it returns about 500 links.

    Hello,

You can consider mounting a backlinks campaign. This will help improve your sites rankings and move it up in the search engines. Also, take some time to evaluate your social media aspects of the site.

There are many things to improve PR this is a start. Good Luck

The key to increasing your page rank is getting link juice from other high pr sites (4+).
You might have 500 pr0 or 1 links but they ain't worth the juice your drinking.

Yep, the only way to get PageRank is have it passed to your site from other sites with PR. Guest blog posts, ezine articles, and press releases all would help you kickstart the campaign. Usually you will find that the better your site is the easier it is to build up links.

It's been awhile since the last PR update so you could jump up the next update. Have you seen a boost in rankings since the conception of the site?

This is a easily answered question if your site is less than 5 months old.
    1. Google hasn't given a PR update over the last 5-6 months to anyone really. Only minor ones that really don't take notice.
    2. Google's longest time ever since last update (very unusual)
    3. If you don't meet any of the above requirements and your site is older than 6-7 months then you don't have any links that google finds of value since you say that google shows no links.

If that is the case just get more quality links back to your site. If you need help just pm me I can direct you in some ways.

When you do a search for the keywords, how far down the list is your site showing up. Typically you can reach the top 20 or better even with no back links. I have some new sites within the top 10 on google, but no PR yet. There are multiple offers within this forum for back linking and seo services that you may want to consider getting some help to speed up the process.

If you want to increase your pagerank, you should make backlinks from high pagerank dofollow websites for website. Pagerank has a mathematical formula and according to this formula, having backlinks from dofollow and high pagerank pages with a few number of external links on them, can help your website to have a better pagerank.

Vincenzo is right here. You should focus your efforts in getting links from high PR sites if you want your own PR to improve. You can't expect it to rise just because your site lasted for two months. The PR of your backlinks plays a role you know.

Make sure that the links that come to your site are Dofollow and not Nofollow. These control the amount of link juice coming to and leaving your site. If you have that many backlinks then you might also link to other sites as well. Make all the links that leave your site to be Nofollow. Pages like "Contact Us", "About Us" and all links that go to Social media sites should have a "Nofollow" in their tag. Links should go from inner pages to the home page with a "Dofollow" but when you link to deep inner pages put a "Nofollow" in the link tag so that unimportant pages don't share your PR. Check with this and you will see your PR rise. Oh, and don't stip link building for your site.

Google will take some time to give your site web page rank, be patient. As your domain is quite new so you cannot expect the pagerank in few days. just concentrate on traffic and back links and very soon you will have high page rank website.
