Backlinks: Does PR really matter?

Hey,

I want to know if I should focus more effort on getting back links that are relevant (wether follow or no follow) or Should I focus my energy on do follow links mostly?

    I'm guessing mostly on do-follow.

    If you have a natural opportunity for a no-follow, then probably take it, but maybe don't go out of your way for them.. .just go out of your way for do-follow....

    I'm no expert, though...

    Focus more on intereacting with your marketplace, giving good value and the links will follow..

    Nofollow or Followed links??

    Don't stress over it...

    Stop seeing links as juice for your site and see them as traffic drivers instead..

    If it makes sense from a traffic standpoint to get nofollow links then great.

    Obviously, High PR, theme related, followed links are going to give you more weight in the search engines, but, the natural links that can come as part of traffic to your site (if you provide good value) makes nofollowed links just as valuable if they drive traffic..

    For instance, Wikipedia, Yahoo Answers etc..

    I would concentrate mostly on getting do follow links but not passing on an opportunity on a no follow when presented.

      High pr linking is super important.

      Terry Kyle uses what are called pumper blogs to build links from a home page with services like this:

      Should Not Be Indexed Or Followed

      I'm already on the waiting list. Trust me, it matters, and most pages get PR diluted by being located in a subdirectory of a domain with high PR. That filters out 99 percent of the PR value.

      So a PR 7 backlink in a subdirectory of a site, say, an Angie's or Paul's Forum profile is basically the same as a PR 0 home page in bold and H1 tags, highlighted contextually in the center of the screen with flashing, dancing lights.

    You should concentrate on both, you need to keep a balance. The PR comes by backlinking itself!

      Indeed. But it could take tens of thousands of links with 0 PR juice to get even a PR 1 or 2.

      I'd rather get some on page PR value and pump it up.

    Do follow links are better thats helps in increasing SERP, if you want to have better PR than look for high PR backlinks.

    try to get the do follow, but remember that no follow are also important it looks more natural to the search engines like this.

    i always focus on getting links and let google decide whether they have big value or not. a link is a link

    There are so many do-follow blogs and forums out there. Since you will be spending the same amount of time to build back links whether it is do follow or not, why not just focus on do follow only blogs and forums.

    Each have their own pro's and con's so it's a good idea to spread out your efforts between each of the two kinds. Just keep it consistent and sustained and you should see some valuable results some time soon.

    It depends on your goal.

    If you are concerned primarly about traffic then get links from relevant sites REGARDLESS of whether the links are followed or not.

    If you are concerned with driving traffic through organic search, you should focus on FOLLOW links as they will help your rankings at Google and NOFOLLOW links will not.
