What are your view on the new kid on the block, Blekko.com search engine. They are supposed to be the clean and honest search engine. How is this changing the SEO landscape.

How do you rank in Blekko anyway?

Blekko.com got some nice features like slashes, and my site is ranking on every keyword far better than on Google.
Only thing that bothers me so far is their dark red color, i don't like it

I will install their toolbar and see what it does when I find some spare time, it say that it's offering some SEO insight...so we'll see about that.

So far I'm not impressed, but not disappointed either. It's still too early to judge them.

      My thoughts exactly.

I agree about the slash-tag thing, that COULD be interesting because it's like custom user-defined function filters embedded into the search.

All of this sort or reminds me of Clusty/Yipee though!

The only difference in this new one and the 1,000's of others, is the
creator. That's the only difference. If they are lucky, they will be
eventually bought out by yahoo or bing. If they are lucky.

Google never stands still. They are already doing the same things.

I find it laughable that people who claim to be "building a better
search engine," are always forgetting that google is constantly
"building a superior search engine." (my personal quotes)

I actually like the tags. If it does take off it will be from the custom tags that people use as part of a social network like buzz. They really don't need to take out Google or Bing. All they need is a modest pickup of a few percentage points and they should be good to go. That way they can sell off to one of those.

Professionally I have to hope they crash and burn. If the concept is built out to something people use in Google it would make ranking a much more complex process. Technology never stands still so if not that then something else.

Blekko doesn't index enough sites. It has potential but it needs to work on how much it crawls.

I beg to differ. They want to pride themselves on NOT indexing tons of irrelevant crapola.

Agree with paulgl. That is exactly right. Don't underestimate the power of people. Look at Facebook, they get a lot of traffic, beating Google. Who would have thought?

It displays search results based on domain age? I've not heard anything about this. Have you got a list of how it displays the result?

Blekko is clean and sleak. Looks like in "sepia" for me. :p

I'm not underestimating Blekko but I think it can't catch up with the giants. Remember how Cuil aimed to be the number one search engine and it ended in a dismal flop? Blekko should do lots of works in order to catch up. But nonetheless, we should always keep an eye on the newcomers. We just don't what might happen in the future.
