Reverse engineering backlinks is simply a way to spy on your competitors backlinks and capitalize on them.

There are several methods to do this. Just make sure you have Seo Quake installed. Firefox version is the best imo.

    1. Go to Yahoo and type in link:thedomainyouwanttospyon with the http://

    2. Go to backlinkwatch . com and type in the site you want to spy on. This is also powered by yahoo, but you can see the anchor text of the links.

    3. Install Seo Spyglass a free, must have tool if you want to spy on competitors.

note: try a variation with or without www, you will get very different results.

There are probably several other tools and methods to come by, but these are the ones I have used.

    Just a quick scenario:

The most common places to capitalize on your competitors backlinks are blog posts, but you can also get other ideas.

I find quite a number excellent relevant directories too, they're either relevant to my niche or local and they often add secondary reviews on services like Google places

I used Market Samurai to do this for my offline business website. Basically I went and duplicated the higher PR links that my competition had. You can export them and outsource it if you want. Duplicate your competitors backlinks and get a few more and you will always be ahead...

U could use scrapebox for this also.

I like to put site:site.com in the search box that way I get all their pages.

    Then i search link:site.com/page1
    link:site.com/page2 ... and so on

This way I get every wp blog comment, every blogengine comment, and every movable type blog comment.

Then I auto post to them all. I can do this all in like 40 minutes. Scrapebox rules!

A few days on this forum and my SEO results are improving already. @Sokar408 thanks for asking this question.

I will try some of the tool mentioned at the top as I usually use websites to scan for backlinks etc.

Is scrapebox still a safe tool to use? I am always very cautious with shortcut tools. Thanks for the input everyone.

Let me give you an example: You study the back-link map, anchor text of the the top ranking websites in your niche. Then you put or try to put links on those sites. Useful tool is SEOSpyglass to aid you in such kind of reverse engineering. But use this tool cautiously it can get your ip banned from your service provider for automated queries.

If your pages are are highly opimized both on and off page SEO , as compared to your competitors page , then you definitely get higher ranking than your competitors .

So , the trick is always on how to find the top competitors , analyze them and do it better than them .
