Does Google FIND and give authority to a back link only appearing in the user info. if I do not want to make any posts on a particular forum ?

Thanks fellow members for helping

P.S. Please see my updated post below where I announce that this will never be done by me. So I hope no one else does it either. After thinking this through and doing more research the only links that I will work on for my sites are links designed to add value to the internet and built only by myself. There will be no links on my sites that are only designed for PR juice like back room forum signature links.

Signature links don't pass very much value because they're often times no-follow, and also because what you've described is an all to common tactic of spammers. If you want forum links to pass real value you've got to have links to your site within the body of a reply or the author's original thread post. There also can't be too many links within the thread, so all-in-one threads aren't necessarily something you should aim for.

I still find a lot of forums that allow Dofollow signature links. I'd say 50% of them do.
I believe it's enabled on Invision Power Board and PHPbb by default, but I'm not sure.

For example I create a signature within the "back office" of my user details and do not make any posts because the admin of that particular forum bans people for making posts that look like they came onto the forum only to advertise. In order to avoid this I would create several anchor text keywords attached to the URLs I wanted google to find on a particular high PR forum.

These would only appear in the user details back office and not on any posts on the outer forum. Would google use the anchor text and URLs to add PR juice to my site?

Make sure that the profile is viewable if you are not signed in and, if so, you're good to go. As orvn said, I find about half the forums are do-follow. Of course, forum profile links are BAD and EVIL and WRONG, but they still work, so people will continue to build them until the Big G's actions match their rhetoric.

Thanks Jody for telling me this.
