How Do I Increase Traffic With SEO?

I need to get around 1200 unique visitors per day to my site in order to make the profit I was expecting from it. I am selling weight loss products. Originally, I was using PPC. Google got very expensive for my keywords and PPC was no longer practical, I would have to have a 3% conversion rate to make money with Google. I also tried Bing, same type of problem but not as bad as Google.

I decided to try to get traffic with SEO. My keywords are competitive. I am able to rank for some of them and get some traffic but not nearly enough to make much money.

Question: Is it practical for me to attempt to get 1200 visitors/day using SEO. Of course with PPC it was not difficult.

Each very competitive term I rank for ( in top 5) only gives me about 20 hits/day. I have three so far, but I would need a lot more to get decent traffic.

Anyone have a viable solution?

It worries me when people talk about "hits" on their website because a "hit" in the logs is not a unique visitor.

I'll assume you understand that and that you don't mean "hit" in the true sense of the word.

    Cheers,

To get 1200 visitors every day to your website with SEO is doable but you'll have to work hard. If your budget is not working with PPC, I'd recommend setting aside a small budget and outsource for SEO.

Personally i wouldn't outsource the seo because you'll get sketchy performance at best. Most firms don't do the nessissary work thats required for optimal performance. On page seo should be done by you or someone who knows what they are doing. Off page optimization such as backlink building and etc can be outsourced, just don't skimp as you'll find alot of places don't really deliver on their promises. You need to find professionals who know the in's and outs or become one yourself. Over the years i've spent alot of money on various seo firms/software/subscriptions and etc. You'll find that very few people really know what they are talking about, but they will ALL take your money regardless

That is the problem. Most outsourced SEO stinks. I tried one that used some kind of black hat techniques.

Your forum post here at the Warrior Forum is ranked just under your keyword phrase.
Your keyword phrase is not very competitive and there are not many people searching for that phrase. You probably need to go for some phrases that more people search for, but it's not going to be easy in the weight loss niche.

The questions if this. How can I get ranked for numerous keywords, and is this possible?
For competitive terms I must have the keyword in the title and H1 tags. Should I just create numerous exact match domain sites?

Thanks for the replies. I know how to do on page optimization and I can get myself ranked for some competitive terms, with a lot of work. However, I don't know how to get ranked for numerous long tail keywords that will bring in a lot of traffic.

For instance when I did PPC. I had 1500 keywords I used, most of them long tail. And got 2000 visitors/day. I don't expect to fully replicate that using SEO, however if I could at least get 200 long tails it would be great.

Again, I do not know if this is feasible. Perhaps many, many pages of related content posted on the site would help.

Well here the thing. Just getting more traffic does not mean you'll sell more. You need to focus on keywords that convert to sales not just traffic in general. Its easier said than done, i know, but thats the only effective way you can seo and see a profit at the same time. You'll also spend less on promoting those keywords and more of those visitors will convert into sales. Personally i'd rather have 100 visitors a day and get 10 sales than 100,000 visitors a day and only 5 sales. Then again if you had 100,000 visitors you could pimp out the additional traffic and make money that way, but i digress. You need to seo for conversions not just for traffic if you want to make money with your products.

yes, you are absolutely correct about the converting keywords. I know what they are from doing PPC with the site. Still need the traffic though. But traffic from non-converting keywords is useless, that's for sure.

You shouldn't be focusing on traffic or unique visitors. Who cares about that, what you should be focusing on is leads.

    Just my two cents

Yes but don't just build links, build the right links targeted to specific keywords (anchor text) pertaining to what you are trying to promote.

You need to have some site activity, keep your site up with fresh content and build backlinks....that is really all there is to off page SEO.

As stated above the on page SEO should be done by you or someone that knows what they are doing. It is not difficult but if you can do it yourself you can also do some testing down the road. The off page SEO stuff as stated above can be outsourced.

Depending on how experienced you are with SEO or if you can outsource it I would be creating steady backlinks from a variety of sources each month. Depending on the keyword you are going for you may be able to achieve this with one money page. However, an easier way to go about it would be to create multiple low-competition pages that you can easily rank for. Each containing obvious links back to your money page or containing an optin form (however u plan to profit)

Seo is hard work but well worth the rewards if you do it right and target quality traffic

I would say keep at it. You seem to be doing well w/ rapid weight loss. Your domain has some natural rank-ability. Keep up with 1-2 articles per week (rapid weight loss related), backlinking (comments/forum sigs? be respectful of other site's TOS), and mix in some ezine or other articles for the backlinks. Anchor text s/b rapid weight loss wherever possible. Keep it up, I think you'll get it soon if you keep trying at it. Maybe not tomorrow but it'll come.

You need targeted traffic. No sense in luring a visitor that isn't interested in your product. Be sure your keywords and article topics are targeted at those who would have an interest in your site.

SEO is not a fast way to get your site up in the rankings. Done properly it is very time consuming if you are going to do it right. There is both on page and off page SEO. On page accounts for about 20-30% of your ranking accounts for 70-80%.

Off page involves several methods. It involves writing blogs, articles, press releases, pinging, RSS and much more. What you need is backlinks and lots of them but you have to know what you are doing. Never buy backlinks because they are usually no good.

All pages on the web are created equal and it is the person who knows SEO who can increase their page rankings.

Of course seo can help you to get 1,200 or even much more traffic for your website but most seo part is off-page optimization and it takes some months in most cases that you get result from it. I suggest you to use social networking sites if you need traffic for your website instantly.

My experience is that you can't get 1200 visitors from search engine alone, Only if at least three high traffic keywords are on top of search engine, that takes time and efforts, work on social networking and than use that network in social book marking sites, this will gives you some good free traffic.

    Have you tried Facebook? PlantyOfFish?

Facebook can work both for free and
    paid traffic.

I have used paid Facebook and PlentyofFish ads. They both also work, but cost money, so I made some sales, spent money on ads, but in the end, didn't make any profit.

As soon as I stopped paying for the ads, of course the traffic went down to zero.

I have nothing against PPC it works to get traffic, and instant traffic. But even if it is well optimized it is expensive. So its great if you have a really excellent sales funnel and a real good conversion rate.

I increased my conversions, but still not good enough to make any type of PPC work out well.

    1. Extensive Keyword Research

SEO starts with a solid keyword research and sorting. Most of the SEO professionals are impatient and always in a hurry to implement their ideas.

Well, that keeps them revising their SEO Services efforts and eventual loss of time and traffic. Keyword research for effective SEO results needs a lot of patience and intelligent calculations. Above all you should be using the best possible tools to perform keyword research for a strong search engine optimization.

    For example Google Keyword Tool, Google Insight and Google Suggestions. You will get the exact number of monthly searches on Google Keyword Tool. Here is what you should do then;

    a) Download them in an excel sheet.
    b) Find out your kind of keywords (that match your website content and products).
    c) Sort them by daily searches.

    2. Original and Optimized Content

SEO based content writing is the best element on a live web page. Both, search engine crawlers and human beings love to read original and effective content filled with useful information. However; there has to be an efficient use of SEO content writing techniques as well. A smart and optimized content contains the right balance of the keywords used throughout the content. Usually it should be 5% to 6%.

    a) Use two to three keywords in the whole content.
    b) Start the content with the most important keyword and end it with the same keyword.

    3. Web Page Optimization

Search Engine Crawler reads only the HTML of the web-page and so it must be properly optimizes to guide the crawlers to the right areas and content of the website. Put the keywords in Title, Description and Add more keywords in the keywords area. Do not forget to put H1 to H6 using the keywords. Alt Tags must be placed on the images wherever possible.

    4. Article Syndication

Write articles and Press releases about your website, it's products and services. Submit the articles into as many article submission and press releases into major press releases websites. Do not forget to leave anchor texts so that readers can come to your website as well.

This practice is easy and very effective. It helps the website gets crawled by the search engines within two days which reinforces the natural ranking of the website. If you leave anchor texts for the internal pages as well then you can expect to get your website's internal pages caches (known to search engines). This boosts the website's presence even more.

    5. Social Bookmarking

It is very important to be a highly actively involved into social bookmarking activities. Join all the major Social Bookmarking websites like dig, delicious etc. Bookmark your own articles and press releases over there, make friends and share your bookmarks.

Social bookmarking websites are very well optimized and are cached by search engines everyday. If your website's content, link etc is bookmarked over there then you can expect your website to get cached by Google within twenty four hours as well.

Try the above mentioned SEO ideas in your daily SEO work and experience the change in the results yourself.
