Hello,

I'm new to the world of internet Marketing. Basically I'm looking for a way to quickly test weather a product will sell BEFORE spending the money to produce it. I was told to create a web page, then drive traffic to the web page via Google adwords for about a week to determine if the product will be lucrative enough to warrant the advertising and production costs. The problem is that the cost to use adwords to drive traffic is prohibitive....over $4.00 a click....I was told to make sure it was under .20 cents a click while still coming up as one of the top 4 results. This has proven to be very difficult....I have read many articles on optimizing Google adwords through seeding your website with your keyword(s), as well as making sure that your adds have your keywords embedded within the copy. I have done all of this but still have a very poor quality score (3/10).....I have contacted Google and they informed me that there is nothing wrong with my adds or landing page relevance but that the system would need time to gather information before my quality score would improve. Who, however, can aford to pay $4.00 a click untill there system "catches up" so to speak. Is there something I'm missing? I'm looking for a cost effective way to "mini test" if my product will sell. Any suggestions?

Get a free trial to some of the following products online.. it will help you make decisions based on keywords to target:

    ppcbully.com
    ispionage.com
    keywordspy.com

Check those out. They will show you what keywords and ads have been in use the longest and more than likely they are profitable...

I disagree with whoever told you that.

Doing a little PPC to a product in order to gauge if it sells well or not is not a good plan. Usually you start a PPC campaign with a low budget and a lot of keywords and tweak it until its profitable then scale it up; even on great products you're not going to be running a profitable PPC campaign right off the bat. Also if you're not experienced with PPC even on great products more often then not you will not turn a profit.

This is not a good way to judge the demand of a product or the quality of the sales page or how well it converts.

The era of mass media is dead because customers are now so bombarded with information that they seek relevancy. As search engines spit out newer technologies daily to create results that are more and more relevant, it is fundamental that your ads are too. When you think of a high-quality PPC landing page, you need to consider exactly what that searcher is looking for and match it within seconds of his/her visit. Accomplishing that goal will not only improve your sales, but increase your quality scores and get your cheaper clicks.
