You can use Google to find related blogs. Below are few examples:

    "Add comment" Your Keywords
    "Post comment" Your Keywords
    “Write comment” Your Keywords
Your Keywords “leave a comment” / “leave comment”
Your Keywords “Notify me of follow-up comments?"+"Submit the word you see below:"
Your Keywords “Remember my personal information" + "Notify me of follow-up comments?"
Your Keywords "Notify me of follow-up comments"
Your Keywords “This site uses KeywordLuv"
    Your Keywords "Enable CommentLuv"
Your Keywords "You can use these tags"
    Your Keywords “Powered by BlogEngine.NET"
    Your Keywords “Allowed HTML tags:"
    Your Keywords “top commenter"

    Hope this helps.

        i agreed with chandan,
if you find some blog comment sites and just collect your competitors urls and check their backlinks

Ive been trying this with good ish results just under 20 strong links per week ! unlike my experience with other methods... i suppose its just what suits you, finding out what other people in you niche are doing seems to be the best due to the fact you can have what they have within reason PLUS you own unique links !

Listen newbie friend avoid posting short posts like thanks! Only post when you can add a value to the thread. If you want to thank, you can use the "thanks" button under every post.

All good. Using a manual process to find the sites is the best way to invest your time. I personally look for top 10 and top 50 lists on people's blogs. Makes for faster harvesting time and blogs which are recommended by authorities in a niche are usually really good.

Here's a few I found for the marketing and personal growth niches..

You're going to need a browser extension, or preferably, Scrapebox.

If you're going to browser extension route & are using Firefox my favorite is "Search Status"

I think this one is the better way. I have used this formula for searching blogs on google but I am confused about one thing.. These blogs would be nofollow or dofollow ???

Most blogs are nofollow. And there tends to be a lot of debate on nofollow & dofollow links. I don't particularly worry too much.

Search Digg, or a similar Social Bookmarking site.
A lot of those will be nofollow though.

Blog commenting is the easiest way, but little sweat will do good for you in long-term. Try guest blogging in your niche and check the results!

The most successful way for me has been to search Google for competitive keywords (like popular Clickbank niches) and then feeding the sites that are ranking into SEO Spyglass. After that you can sort out all the dofollow backlinks they have, and look for blogs in there. I actually found around ~50 new dofollow blogs just yesterday with this method. Takes a TON of time though, probably around 5-6 hours..

I love blog commenting, I'm actually here because I was going to ask if anyone had used Scrapebox and Blog Comment Demon - and there's another tool, CommentHut. Scrapebox is mainly a mass comment tool - but I wouldn't recommend that nor use it for that purpose.

What I'd use it for (and recommend to those wondering about finding blogs) is to harvest the URLs of blogs given a keyword or other parameters. The other thing all these tools do is allow you to sort by DoFollow or NoFollow, by footprint, and by PageRank.

ScrapeBox is a known spam tool, the other two aren't (they don't allow mass commenting), but all of them rock at finding blogs.

    Hope that helps.

In the meantime, looking for the footprints that were mentioned is a great way to go about it. And if you're looking for the max link juice, look for the:

    CommentLuv enabled
    KeywordLuv enabled
    Recent Comments
    Top Commentator(s)

The reason is that they all tend to be A) Looking for comments, B) Many are DoFollow, C) the last two will usually mean that your comments will multiply in the Yahoo! index, so 1 or 2 comments can turn into dozens or hundreds.

This happens because the sidebar displays the recent comments, and your name is a link going to your site on every single page in the index.

Lately, because I'm NOT a proud owner yet of any of the three tools I named (I think Blog Comment Demon is the cheapest, unless you shop in other forums for a Scrapebox special) - I've just been looking for:

    "Latest Comments"+"Keywords"

or similar (as mentioned above). Works great, I wouldn't worry about PageRank - just comment. I open up 10-15 at a time and comment.

You know what...I'll just post about this on my blog. This is ridiculous (sorry for the long comment).

Thanks for your post, it is really helpful and knowledgeable post for me. And your comment is not so long. Please share more knowledge like this one.

Good post..yeah those are killer tools too.

You can also sign up with google alerts and have the read rss feature on "discussions" so that you can go to the most current blog in your niche that is talking about your topic. And of course leave a nice review about one of their posts with a link to it.

This is sort of called the farming technique....where you summarize the discussion as post on your blog linking back to the blog having the discussion.

Re: Lisa Parmley's "DoFollow Diver" tool - it's just a Google Custom Search search bar. The way that works is that you, the webmaster, go to Google's Custom Search and enter the URLs of the websites that you want to include.

So, when someone goes to Lisa's DoFollow Diver, (at InlineSEO.com - she's awesome, by the way!) you are only looking through her list of blogs that she's personally scraped for her own commenting, etc.

The trouble with it is that it's not extensive - there are only so many targets in there. The problem is that certain webmasters who are savvy enough trace where you were referred from, and they can tell you're from a "Do Follow" custom search engine...

And not all are 100% happy with that. I recently used it and WOW. Got into a flame war with someone using language that would make most pirates and Navy Seals blush - all for commenting!

So, just be aware that this is what you're talking about, it's not all of Google's index.

If you want a great way to find niche specific blogs, besides all the methods mentioned - you can use a blog directory, like Technorati, or like DMOZ or the Yahoo! directory.

Find your category and dive in, if you don't want to sift through Google's own "Blog" feature in the sidebar.

Just put in your KW's and select "Blogs" in the sidebar, works well. (Not to say you shouldn't use Lisa's tool - just beware that not all of the blogs are still DoFollow, and if you read her page, she asks you not to comment spam, I don't think everyone bothers with Lisa's message but keep it in mind.)

Search Google for "Top Health [replace with your niche] Blogs" and there should be lists already built for you to piggyback off of. Then raid the blogrolls of each of the blogs on there because they are usually in the same industry. Hope that helps.

An even more effective method would be to find blogs related to your niche with extremely low Alexa ranks (low is good in this case), read the article, leave an insightful comment regardless of whether it is dofollow or not and get targeted traffic.

Relevant blogs that aren't using rel="nofollow" on their hyperlinks, as well as being a regular, relevant commentee and not spamming 1000's of blogs with irrelevant, pointless comments for a linkback - Google will ignore these (the majority of the time).

E.g: If you're trying to build links for a website about dogs, find blogs about dogs providing a relevant comment that people won't ignore.

Leave blog comments consistently on sites such as:
wordpress, blogger, flickr, edu/gov sites etc..
Use these search parameter to find relevant sites:

    site:blogspots.com keyword
    site:edu "comments" keyword
    etc..

Build these links consistently, and you

For certain micro-niches it is really difficult to find good related blogs to comment on.

Also, it is not sufficient to simply comment on any blog in your niche, the blog should also fulfill certain criteria:

Minimum PR of 2 or higher
      Comment backlinks should be dofollow
Blog should be moderated so that your comments (with backlink) become visible - make sure there are already some comments that have been accepted.

If you can't find any good blogs in your niche at all - simply choose other high quality blogs (fulfilling the criteria mentioned above) to comment on.

        thumbs up!

        OP - suggestions for you:

        targeted WP blogs:
        "powered by wordpress" YOUR KEYWORDS

        More targeted blogs:
        "powered by wordpress" "YOUR KEYWORDS"

        Highly targeted blogs:
inurl:YOUR KEYWORDS "powered by wordpress" YOUR KEYWORDS
Use keywords in quotes if you want to increase relevance, however this will reduce the number of results - so experiment and find your golden middle.

              thanks
Approval rates can be low from time to time, sure. But if you're commenting on quality blogs it's worth the effort. If you come across a blog that's DoFollow and has a handful of PR1+ posts, commenting one of the easiest ways to create PR1+, dofollow backlinks.

Just leave QUALITY comments and you'll get plenty of them approved.

Yeah. A lot of people tend to overlook niche-related blogs. Even if the links are "nofollow" you can generate a fair amount of traffic with quality comments on high traffic blogs.

Actually the solution is quite easy.
Just type your main keyword with the word "blog"
      into Google.

Just as an example: "Student Loans Consolidation Blog"
and you will get a bounche of good candidates.

Because the high page rank blogs are more valuable,
you should have a PR toolbar installed, where you can see the PR.

After you have checked these, you just write a comment
and put your hyperlink at the bottom.

You can get backlinks by blog commenting. You have to find blogs that have dofollow attribute. When the system has finished searching blogs you will receive list of blogs to your email. Hence you have to use working email address. By commenting in dofollow blogs you can give quality comments. The keyword should be relevant to your site. If it is not so then no need to worry about. You just have to choose anchor text of your link. This way you can get one way backlinks by blog commenting.

I'm actually quite surprised how split down the middle this one is.

blog comment = backlink. Yes. NoDoFollow. Doesn't matter. A backlink is a backlink is a backlink. If you want to talk about the quality of a backlink, that's an entirely different discussion...

You can find everything you need utilizing Google search features... See the pic below?!?! Search for a word/phrase ---> Click on Blogs, Discussions, News... And you've found places to comment!

Blog Commenting is so over abused, it's not funny. The backlinks provide little weight.

Just think about it, if it is so easy to use google to find backlinks; don't you think the google engineers can easily distinguish a blog comment backlink (nofollow or follow) from anything else?

I see little value in it.

Yes, there are people who completely abuse blog commenting by blasting thousands upon thousands of blogs at a time. But if done correctly, blog commenting is a very powerful method of building backlinks. If it didn't work programs like Scrapebox wouldn't be nearly as successful.

If you dig really hard there are plenty of dofollow PR1, PR2, PR3, PR4, etc, blog posts that are open for comments and have very few outbound links. Some moderated, some open. As long as your comment is relevant and on topic 99% of blog owners are perfectly happy with allowing a backlink to your website.

personally I feel blog comments are overhyped like profile links. It's like voting for yourself thousands of times or liking your own status on fb.

Solid facts do point to the fact that Google knows how to parse out a comment in common CMS's like wordpress etc. Does commenting still work? Of course, Google wants to credit the little internet marketer promoting his own blog. But voting for yourself thousands of times on many blogs? Google has grown less and less likely to credit that as time progresses.

    Hello,

Blogs are maintain by the personal user to update his daily event with some text, action or videos. It is really very essential to generate back links. You have to take a complete information about the topic that you are going to comment and it must be relevant instead of spamming. This relevancy will attract more number of users toward your site and will help you to get good results while crawled by Google.

Well obviously a very good approach would be scrapebox. It helps you find the blogs your looking for fast and filter them.

A powerful google search string for you:

    "recent comments" [your keywords]

this will bring up blogs that show their recent comments sidewide. since the "Recent Comments" is often a widget in wordpress you could be getting thousands of backlinks from one silly comment!

Find Do Follow of these and get instant high PR backlinks!

Commenting on Blogs is a good method and comment luv is a good plugin to use. I also get backlinks to my site by using a company called Tribe Pro.Once a member you will want to build up a following of other members who will agree to share your content if you share theirs. This can be a very powerful technique as most of the syndication can be done on autopilot. There are 2 options the free option means you have to manually go in and syndicate yours and other content, where as the paid option can be set up to work on auto pilot. When implemented consistently will give you the vital back links you need to get your content ranked highly on the search engines.

Use this code to find some blogs to comment on

site:.com inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "your keyword here"

The red marks means that you can change it according to your needs....

Example: you can change the .com into .edu or something else...and also you can put your keyword in the "your keyword here" to search for blogs that are related to your blog...hope that helps...cheers//

I do blog commenting for backlinks, and my finding suggest that dofollow blogs give backlinks, and drive traffic. If you have a webmasters account, Google has a listing of places you have backlinks from. "Who you are linking to" or something like that.

My blog is linked to several high PR high ranking blogs, and those blog are listed in who am I linked too. Google will tell you a lot of what you can do to get good links. Study the reports, review your notes of what or where you have been linking to. If you are linking to some of these sites or junk directories from quick submitters, they are not going to get listed. Nor are those junk sites going to be a good back link.

Go to blogs provide relavent feedback to the post. Either agree and why, disagree and why, write down why you like the post, or add more information to the discussion. Those will be kept by any blog owner, and you have a good backlink. Delete the autoposters, and become a part of the conversation. It works for me.

        Thanks for reading my post.

I think there are a lot of great suggestions here. I use Technorati to search for blogs in a specific niche. I've also had some success using Followerwonk which helps you search through Twitter profiles for specific keywords. Then from there I check those Twitter accounts for their blog, as well as looking at their lists of those that they follow and who follows them for those blogs.

It’s pretty cool to have a site that ranks number one at Google and also at other major search engines. Striving to place on such is not that easy and involves many techniques in marketing and in SEO as well. Further more you may need to know some basics with SEM and on how does it really work. But one simple thing to cause traffic to your site is through engaging with link building services.

Google any of the following replacing mlm with your chosen keyword. The dot edu, gov, com etc can be chaged to .??IE or whatever.

When the search results come up you can sort them on PR using the down arrow next to where it says PR in the top SEOquake results bar.

How many of you take the time to make an email alert, or RSS Reader alert, on Google News for your niche to learn more information to help your readers.

When you visit those news articles, blogs, etc...Don't you leave a comment? Wouldn't it make sense? Wouldn't it be of high value since it is propagating through Google News?

I have Google (blog and discussion) alerts set up for all sorts of different keywords / phrases. The discussion alerts are pretty valuable. These people are actively looking for a solution, or are interested in your niche. If done correctly, they can generate VERY targeted traffic.

Blogging for Links ... well, may get you a backlink, but it's not overly effective at building longterm traffic.

You're forgetting the whole value of a blog comment. It isn't about getting the link, it's about building a relationship, being more social. Hopefully, it adds value to your site and allows you to interact with people and other bloggers.

From that you grow your readership.

Blog Commenting is a very useful part of the overall picture of backlink building. No follow of do follow, do both, it is unnatural to do only do follow. There are some really excellent tools for finding blogs to comment on. I prefer manual over auto. A useful, interesting on-topic comment is likely to be approved. The only problem of course is that it is terribly time consuming. This is where the quality over quantity issue come s to the fore.

I'm not sure if you meant "they" all have nofollow tags..?

Also, I didn't know that blog comments don't increase my overall # of backlinks. If so, I guess I better delete my database of well over 100,000 different dofollow blogs since they're useless.

Hopefully this was not mentioned yet: I simply have Google Alerts for blogs set for my target keywords. As they come in each day (anywhere from 2-8 blogs) I comment on them all. I don't even bother to look at whether or not they're nofollow or what the PR is; that way it is truly 100% natural in G's eyes.

This is a great method that a lot of people overlook. I use Scrapebox which kind of takes it to the next level though. You can import literally thousands of niche related keywords and set it to search Google for posts that were indexed within the past 24 hours.

You can look at blog commenting two ways:

    1) You're a creep 'stealing' a backlink from a website.

If I'm just looking for dofollow blogs regardless of niche, I usually take all the links from a high PR, low OBL, no real "spam" comments, dofollow blog post I've found in the past and load them up in Scrapebox to find whatever backlinks Scrapebox has on them. Then run those through the OBL and PR checker.

I've found that finding other high PR dofollow blogs this way is quite fast and you can pretty much repeat the process indefinitely with all the links you've found earlier. That's generally my lazy man approach, though :-)

To do this takes time. The idea is to raise the profile of you and your blog with other "bigger:" blogs out there. You need to find the right market suitable with your blog and comment on that niche alone. Then try to target blogs with high page rank and with high traffic for your targeted keyword. There are several softwares that helps you search for high PR blogs and you can utilize it for free. Finally Comes the most important part, leaving sensible comments and not just the random "Nice" or "Good Job", this part gets you noticed and builds your name and brand online.

    Hope this helps!

Use this footprint on Google: intext:keyword "leave a comment"

Works about 90% of the time, but does not filter dofollow/nofollow

You are doing it wrong, then.

      1. Fiverr blasts are usually pretty weak.

      2. Hours a day? Really? I can get a handful of PR1+ backlinks in less than an hour.

        1. I never said buying a blast. there are very strong link there.

        2. handful? getting 5-10 PR1+ backlinks that will mostly be nofollow and will probably get deleted a few week after or be on a page with tons of other link to spammy sites - this is not the best way to rank a site in my opinion.
and what if your trying to rank 5-10 niche sites at a time. work smart not hard.

Scrapebox can do this quite easily, you want to select the custom footprint feature. Enter your keywords in the keywords box and have a text file saved to be used with the merge function.

Your "merge text file" is just an easy way to set up this whole process. For example, if you wanted to search for wordpress blogs with your niche in mind, you could have this info in that "merge text file"

    “powered by wordpress” "%KW%"

This will enter the popular wordpress footprint “powered by wordpress” in front of all your keywords. It will then place quotes around all those keywords to give you targeted results.

Just click on the M button to load your merge file and harvest.

I don't recommend auto commenting, as that's a good way to get Google slapped or banned. Also you have to be careful as to the speed you add your back links. I wouldn't do more than 10-20 a day, especially for new sites. For older sites maybe 30-50 max a day, but that's pushing it. Also dofollow and nofollow are both very useful and needed to paint the right picture to Google so don't listen to anyone who says nofollow is worth nothing, it's worth a lot!

I used to believe this myself. But not as much anymore. What happens when a site goes viral? It usually gets thousands of backlinks over the course of a few days and then stops. Google isn't slapping these sites.

Then again, if you're backlinking on a tiered system you're not going to get nearly as many links pointing directly to your site anyway. So it's not really a problem you'd need to worry about.

The search phrases on the first page of this thread are already enough to help you find a lot of blogs where you can post your comments. One of the ways you can add your keyword as an anchor text would be the CommentLuv and KeywordLuv comment engines. They allow you to put your name with your keyword on the name field. If those tools aren't there, don't put your keyword in the name because that would be considered as spammy.

Another way of using anchor text is to put it inside your comment. Just remember that when you're going to include that within your content body, you have to take note of the value you're going to give to the post and the conversations, if there are any.

It certainly does matter if a blog is Dofollow rather than Nofollow. Nofollow links are crawled, however they are not counted on G's link graph, nor do they flow page rank.

Blog commenting can be destructive if you just blast your site with poor quality scrapebox links, however when you make high quality, relevant comments on dofollow, low OBL blogs, they are some of the best links you can get.

Getting high ranked blogs in your niche is not an issue. You can search top bookmarking sites. Just go to the appropriate directory and look out for those blogs.

The only cause of concern is that almost every blog has implemented nofollow link policy in comment section which won't allow to pass link juice to your blog

On ODesk I have been paying around $2-$3 per hour and providing a list of blogs to comment on.. I usually get my people to only comment for 1 hour per day and they can usually make around 5-7 good comments in that hour. Note if you go this route make sure the contractor has good English skills.

One of the easiest ways would be to use Scrapebox to find relevant blogs. Then sort by Page Rank, eliminate all blogs with PR1 or less. The use the do-follow checker add on to find dofollow blogs, or just comment manually on all of the PR2+ relevant blogs. Just keep it to about 10 comments per day.
