ok...

If i found a good key...lets say its "ceiling fans"

>Ceiling fans the keyword gets 400 hits a day.

>Competition is around 38,000

BUT.....

Ceilingfans.com is taken, so is .org and .net.

**** here's my thought and problem****

Bestceilingfan.com is NOT taken

it still has the keyword "Ceiling Fan" but I added the word BEST infront of it.

>"Best Ceiling Fan" as a KEYWORD only gets 5 hits a day

Should I still buy the domain Bestceilingfan.com... and try to target the keyword "Ceiling Fan" in my website content...

or

what....
#domain #keywords #question

Better get ceilingfansguide.com or similar so you keywords are in the begin of the domain.

If you people would put as much energy into real SEO than this
nonsense about a domain name, you might actually get somewhere.

Even it may seem a little bit harsh I agree with Paulgl, a keyword rich domain will help you to rank well, nevertheless the key to have better ranks is the offsite optimization (links), so buy a domain name with the keyword you are trying to rank and focus on creating backlinks to your site

This is one of salient points of getting a domain name that has your targeted keyword/s in it....so that you don't have to put as much energy in a real SEO. Unless of course you prefer to work harder...it's all a matter of choice

This may even come as a shock to you...but even after Google's most recent Caffeine Algo..... a blank webpage can still rank number #1 in Google by simply having the targeted keywords in the domain name ....WITHOUT backlinks...

SEs ( search engines) prefer to see your main keyword/s early in your domain...that said, the word "best" is a STOP word. It is a word that is ignored by the SEs because it is extremely a common word. They do this in order to speed up search results or to save disk space.

So basically, in the human eye, your domain is "bestceilingfans.com" but in the SEs, it is "ceilingfans.com"

Use Google wonderwheel to build pages ' or even subdomains ...around' your main keyword ....

Stop for a minute and observe what percentage of sites are ranking well for the same keyword you are targeting..... notice anything? Yep, you will see subdomains ranked in Google's first page.

        or better yet....try this:

type "facial cleanser" and see who's on top 1 and what its URL is....
or " juice detox" ...or "acne cure"....or even your very own example
        "ceiling fans"

as long as your subdomain have the keyword/s you're targeting, you stand the same chance of ranking well just like having a root ( main) domain...

If you were to buy a domain with the keyword in the domain, plus other words, it shouldn't make much difference compared to if you had a exact match in the domain. Although getting a exact match domain would of been nicer, it isn't really a requirement. You should also build backlinks for both keywords, despite one barely getting any searches, as the main keyword is within the sub keyword, backlinks with both anchor texts will be helping each other in the SERP's.

Google Wonder Wheel - A Wonder Tool!

Also I've heard it's better to add a word after your targetted keyphrase then before it

    Yes go for bestceilingfans

as long as you have the keyword in there then great

There is no real proof that having a keyword or phrase in your domain will help your rankings but if you wish to go for it then great.

    Also one more thing.

What if you have the keywords ceilings fans, wall fans and external fans????

You wouldn't buy the domain bestceilingwallandexternalfans.com would you????

No, this wouldn't work. You would have to create a website for each keyword but that is not the best idea either.

It's best to just choose one of those (bestceilingfans.com is very good) and build a solid website around fans on it. You could then add stuff about wall fans etc. and due to LSI Google should make it relevant to keywords such as wall fans etc.

From my experience the domain name let's you rank higher for the keyword it is based around (I already noticed this on few of my sites).

I prefer to use suffix, not prefix
      For example:
      ceilingfansSHOP
      ceilingfansReview
      ceilingfansInfo
      ceilingfansGuide
      ...

if the domain name of the exact keyword is not available, go for adding word before or after your keyword. You can also use hypens like ceiling-fan.com. This makes your keyword readable. In a long run, backlinks and not domain name is what will gain you more traffic.

The keyword domain name helps, but you also want to build natural backlinks, posting on forums and submitting articles relevant to your site. The more relevant backlinks you have the more chances you'll get a good ranking on google.

The best way is to find a long tail keyword as your domain name but if you dont care about the long tail and only want to pursue the main keyword and it is in your domain then it is no problem to take "Bestceilingfan.com"

hi, you're thinking is correct but I think you have to make a deep research of the keyword to use a high ranking keyword in your Domain name because you have to beat all others and on site optimization would work better for your problem. once its been done then you can start off site for more better required traffic.
