Home Page Importance

With my WP them it's setup with 3 sections for featured posts or pages with brief excerpts for each. A latest news section excerpt and links to previous posts. Is this going to harm me because there is a very minimal word count on the main page?

    Nope, shouldn't hurt at all. What matters is the content you have on the site, not that it's all on the main page. If you have it set up right, google will be indexing all of the content. The more content, the better. The more consistently you add content the better.

    You should be fine.
