#1 - I think you have this wrong, you are linking to your site FROM an authority website.

#2 - See anyone's signature that doesn't lead to a post on warrior forum? THAT is a backlink

#3 - A variety of ways, comments on blogs, article creation on free sites, forum posting... even paying for them.

To get backlink you can post comment to someone's blog. Or you can trade link with another blog who has the same category with your website/blog.
