EzineArticles..Is there a trick?

All,

I was wondering if there was something else one must do when submitting an article. In the niche I am working on, I see an article that was written by someone else back in July. Nothing extremely fancy about the article, but it has had something crazy like 18,000+ views since July. I tried to look at it to see why it would be so popular (key words in the title, throughout the article, etc.) but I just can't figure it out. I do notice that it comes up #1 or #2 in google when searching a particular keyword phrase.

So my question is: when you submit an article, what does it take to get so many views? I attempted to write a similar article with my own style and input, but I have gotten maybe 20 hits in a week. Is there something extra that must be done?

You can try doing some keyword research, and including a few low competition long tailed keyword phrases within the article. Remember though, it isn't just the article views that you want to focus on... it's the click throughs that you get through to your website.

Write a good informative article, and you'll get click throughs. The MORE good articles you have out there... the more click throughs you get to your site. The MORE click throughs you get... the more sales you get.

    See where i'm going here?

rewrite the article and submit it to goarticles and articledashboard and instead of linking to your websites in your resource box use the anchor text link to link to your ezinearticle. It will give it a boost in the rankings.

You should also be writting your article to target two or three keywords not just one!

Have you checked to see how often that keyword phrase in that article is getting searched on in the search engines? It could be that the article writer found a popular keyword phrase that didn't have a whole lot of competition.

Does the article contain a "how-to" or a list? Articles like those are often quite good at getting eyeballs to it.

Plus, remember that just because an article has gotten a lot of views doesn't necessarily mean that it's been published a lot. When you view the article within ezine articles, scroll down to the bottom of the page and take a look and see which articles are getting published the most.

Oftentimes, the number of views and not a lot of publication on other sites means that the headline is great but that the content of the article isn't doing it's job and thus not getting posted on other people's sites.

Use these articles that have been published quite a bit and see what you can glean from them. What similarities can you see with all of the articles that are being published? Use this as a springboard for your own article writing.

        Most likely that's it.

Your article should be keyword-specific... not an article with generic keywords...

Building a good back log of articles and showing yourself as a expert within your niche will go a long way too. People trust you after seeing one good written article, they'll often venture to other articles in your catalog.

I guess that's more of a long-term goal for after you learn how to bring traffic initially but significant none-the-less.
