good question. What I'd like to know is how to stay organized with link building. i.e. I need a list of places to submit, quickest way to do it and how to keep track of all of it (so I don't accidentally submit twice)

I spend more than an hour on forums, I don't do it for building backlinks but yup, it does provide some good backlinks to my sites.

Apart from that the number of backlinks you can get with 1 hour per day depends on the kind of link building technique you are using. You can probably comment on 30 blogs in an hour, but post your site on 50 web directories in the same amount of time.

The software I purchased advises to hand-submit to directories on a daily basis and claim to have phenomenal results from this.

I prefer article submission and forum. no perticular no. per day. it depends on the time available.

I can probably write a single article and submit it to my favorite article directories..

There are so many tactics and if you do everything it takes too much time. What we need is to divide between content writing and traffic promotion. I think Forums, blogs and article submission as well as social bookmarking and advertising would be more than enough to grow traffic...

Oh I forgot Facebook, Myspace and twitter too....

Just pick what you have time for and slowly you will get the traffic..

If I had just one hour a day that I had to use for linking then I would do Articles. Write one in 20 minutes, 500 words ish and then use a tool to submit them to the top 5 Article Sites. And do that every day.


But I would say 5 hours a week (I presume that is what you are talking about and not one hour out of Tim Ferriess 4 hour week) is a lot of time to spend on linking. If you did the article thing with something like Article Announcer you would have hundreds of thousands of links back to you in a year.

Here is an example, I posted this article on a Free Article Tool prior to buying Article Announcer. Look up "Article on the timing of events with Site Build It" as a specific searchin Google 280 occurances, let's say 200 actually do the right thing and put my link in their. That was put up about 4 years ago onto 5 Article Directories. At the hieight I think I had 420 links in Google, 380 in Yahoo and 250 in MSN.

So lets do the math. Approx 1000 links per day (after about 3 weeks of being up) 240 work days in year, 240,000 links of mainly low caliber. But, and this is my view, there is no bad link. Now that is big, you would'nt beat wikipedia but you would kill a lot of other sites in your area.

Trouble is keeping it up day in day out. Simple solution is to get a Virtual Assistant to do it and get the article written for you.

I would spend day one to submit articles to 200-400 directories.

Day2 I would submit my website url to 200-300 link directories..

Day3 I would post for an hour in forums on my niche and have my link in my sigs of each post.

Day4 I would submit my sites to 100-200 social book marking sites.

Day5 I would look for sites I can exchange links with..

now it is the weekend and time to take a break.. or more even harder..

if this is the case then you must look for only getting quality links as getting links from low ranked websites would be the same as dustbin full of dump papers.........thus also send link exchange in this time period........

I don't worry so much about the amount of links I can get done in an hour. I get a few here and there. Decent, relevant links from various sources. My results are fine so quantity doesn't bother me so much.

From a standing start (assuming I already had my handy list of free wordpress hosts), I can add about 10 blogs per hour, configured and loaded for full on autoblogging. I'd run them at about 1 post every 2 days average, with 2 backlinks per post. So about 1 per day per blog.

Over a month, that adds up to just under 5000 in a month.

about 18000 in a couple of months.

And so on.
