Subdomain Issue on Google ranking

I have had my website ijdmtoy dot com for almost 4 years.

But since 2009 I have been using its subdomain store.ijdmtoy.com as my homepage and let ijdmtoy dot com redirect it to store.ijdmtoy.com

However when I am using the market samurai to check my website, it shows the domain age is very very young (indicate as -)

So I was wondering whether the subdomain has any affect on this and whether the subdomain will weight down my website ranking?

As far as Google is concerned, subdomains are treated like seperate sites... so that could be one reason for it being viewed as a young domain.

^ This, I believe, is correct.

And that will be why Market Samurai is showing your domain as having no age.

Bearing in mind though, I don't think Market Samurai looks at the domain's "registration date" via a "whois" to calculate domain age, anyway. As I understand it, it looks at the first/oldest archive.org cache date.

Either way, there's no issue so long as you're ranking well in the SERPs for your targetted keywords ... right?

Just don't go changing your main URL any time soon (unless you have to, and do it properly, with a permanent 301 redirect) since all the backlinks that are passing the PageRank (and influencing your rankings) will be pointing to URLs at your subdomain.

So then they don't share the same ranking?

Google page rank is done by FQDN - meaning each fully qualified domain name. Some webmasters use RewriteEngine to make sure that their domain always has the www; the idea is similar. You don't want to split your rank between domain dot com and www dot domain dot com due to inconsistent linking.

Historically, what we call a "subdomain" is called a "machine name."

Its intended purpose is to identify different physical computers within a domain.

So from Google's perspective, you are telling it that you have just added a new computer to your network, and your old computer is now redirecting all requests to the new one.

The idea that your new computer is assumed to be a different machine than the old one is precisely what you should expect.
