Hey guys,

Lots of people (excluding Thomas Michal ) think that .edu backlinks are very difficult to come by. Well, I've come up with a system that helps blogs build up a huge portfolio of .edu backlinks with very little daily effort.

University websites are constantly posting new studies in the hopes that they might receive national attention for their work. Unfortunately, most of these studies are too technical for most people to understand. So, they rely on technical media outlets to write summaries of these studies and to submit them as press releases for the public to see.

Well, most reporters never find these studies or are too disinterested to care.

This is where you step in.

Take one of your blogs. Google search the following: "your main keyword +site:.edu". Now you will see a list of .edu sites containing studies and articles related to your niche.

Now, take a few of these articles, and write short summaries (~200 words). Before you post them to your blog, e-mail the authors and respectfully let them know that you read their articles, wrote summaries and are going to have a press release for each of them. Also tell them that they should provide a link to the summary on their website for good measure.

Make sure you are respectful and professional in your e-mail.

Some will refuse, some will insist that they don't have permission, some will not answer you. But a few of them will oblige and be very grateful for your patronage.

This is a great way to add quality, authoritative content to your blog as well as generate high quality backlinks.

Hope this helps!

.edu backlinks are easier to come by than people think. I think that is the common problem/struggle for people with seo in general. It's more a series of smaller easy tasks that add up. It just takes some creative thinking.

If you really know the capabilities of a search engine the power of it is amazing.

    Like when you said:

    "your main keyword +site:.edu"

you can also put "add url, link, website" + site:.edu

An interesting post, it appears to be something that would work well, however, how do you reach the right person, that can actually perform a back link? like you said, some will some wont but a few will, my interest is in how to improve the likely response rate and how to get them to take action on your offer, now that would be something that would be of interest to me.

Links on other sites that point back to yours. Preferably with anchor text (what you see underlined in the browser) that matches the keywords you want to rank for. Backlinks are like votes for your site to a search engine. They help you get ranked for the keywords you desire.

You must be very new to this

You are correct. I am very new to this whole thing, but everyone has a learning phase when they are trying to learn something new.

Not only are .edu site easy to come by, but they are also no different from a .com. Site authority and relevance are important, nothing else. EDU's usually have more authority, but if they aren't relevant to the site you are trying to rank, they aren't helping as much as a relevant .com.
