Google dance occurs once in month for particular keyword.

It is keyword related. I am doing SEO for my site with 9 keyword. All 9 keywords are in top.
But one keyword is effected by google dance. Suddenly it disappears. After someday it is on top 10. After 1 week it is not in the SERP. So Google dance occurs to particular keyword for one time.

If you do instance link building it's likely your site will encounter a google dance, If you don't do any link building your website will NOT encounter a google dance - It has the answer for your question, infer it properly!!!!

That would be new news to me, but I guess a shady footprint in your linking strategy could raise red flags.

I honestly don't think big G sticks to any particular pattern, when one person figures out the pattern the rest of the world abuses it

OK, I've been reading some articles today which say that Google does a fresh crawl of the web almost continuously and a deep crawl once every month, which is when all the backlinks are accounted for and the ranking of a site/page can greatly change.

Is this true, is this information still applicable?

LOL! I was only explaining how and why google dance occur. To make him understand that google dance is not a fixed thing and it all depends on the intensity of link building and changes per site.
Also, I don't think my competitors (or anyone else) are that stupid to stop link building hearing such 'advice'

Nope. That was true many yrs ago but they don't do it anymore.

This is quite an interesting thread going here.

The Google dance doesn't happen to everybody at the same time. And the 'Google dance' is just a term used to describe the fluctuation or disappearance of your search engine rankings for whatever reason.

Most of the time this only happens to new sites. I have never, ever experienced what you call, the 'google dance' on a site that's established. This has only happened to me after the first week or so that my new sites get indexed.

There's nothing you can do about the google dance, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen whether you like it or not.

Some say, and I believe this too, the 'google dance' is when a website is put into some kind of evaluation or review phase to judge the quality of the site. I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure they just remove, or decrease your rankings during this period of time so they can be sure your site belongs in their search engines and isn't a threat to Google users.

Trust me, google dances aren't scheduled, they don't happen regularly to everybody. The Google dance is a per website thing, and there's nothing you can do except for anticipate it and not freak out when your site's been live for only a week and then it disappears.

I know you didn't just say that to me. OK, obviously you did. What we are talking about here IS NOT the obvious routine position change of sites that happens normally, or as result of contributing issues.

Pretty much anyone with their heads NOT up their ##@$ knows this, so it makes no sense for you to come swooping in a harmless thread, armed with a few links to Op/Ed pieces and then spew holier than thou one liner commandments. It does nothing to help or inform. For instance:

Excuse me? What, no really, what in blue hell are you on about? I'm simply explaining to you that what people TODAY are describing as "the google dance" is an adapted phrase used to describe the situations they see their sites experience TODAY, not 2003, not 1967 either. I'm not making a damn thing up.

Would you like the people experiencing the site fluctuations they are experiencing to stop calling it a "google dance"? If so, start a petition, write your congressman, maybe you can pass a law and site owners will be forced to call their issue "The Google Doodle Do".

Further, what I'm saying is that you came in this thread to argue semantics over an issue of substance, and that does nothing to help the problem of dramatic site fluctuations, which does happen. If OP took your word for it, he'd walk away thinking it wasn't happening and that he was hallucinating his site jumping positions, because apparently "it stopped in 2003".

You're stance has nothing to do with the issue. You're arguing apples and elephants, and doing it for about an hour now. It's getting old.

I think this so called google dance happens weekly slowly, painless for some , kidney stone pain for others. They change ranking paterns as they find abusers, holes etc, hey baby happy christmas and will 2011 bring us massive amounts of cash?
