According to my knowledge, whitehat backlinks are those which we get naturally from our visitors by various ways, for example: comments. we can also get whitehat backlinks by social bookmarking, SEO press release, etc, but usually this type of link building is very slow.
So to get a fast results, many people go for blackhat links, which can be obtain by using scrapebox/xrumer blast, in other words, i would say it is just a spam of backlinks.

    Hope this helps.

Everyone has different definitions but mine is:

whitehat - natural backlinks you get from someone just cause they like your content (hard to get) or you ask them for one but dont pay

grayhat - profile backlinks, blog comments, ect. the most effective for "affiliate" type sites

blackhat - xrumer, paying for backlinks, ect. Stuff google really hates.

Black Hat backlinks trick the search engine into thinking the website deserves a high ranking position. Nevertheless, there's no doubt the website will fall to the bottom of the rankings just as soon as the search engine is aware of its techniques.
So why do blackhat backlinking technique still exist, I hear you ask. It's true, depending on several factors (mostly how clever/ lucky you are), it may be months before you get caught. But as soon as they do, you will see your search engine ranking plummet.
3 Black Hat backlinking techniques to be avoided!
      1. Keyword ********. As you would expect, this means ******** as many keywords (or instances of the same keyword) into the text (including the Meta data) of a given page. If you're not sure where the boundary is, have a read through and check the text reads fluently.

      2. Invisible text. It's possible to make text "invisible" to readers by using the same colour font for the font as for the background. However, rest assured that the only text that is important is the text readers can see.
      3. Cloaking. It is possible to create pages that change depending on who is viewing them. For instance, the creation of pages that are visible just to search engine spiders - not regular readers.
These top 3 techniques are the start of a long list of Black Hat Search Engine Optimization techniques (including link farms, doorway pages...) to be avoided at all costs if you are in search of long term online success!

White hat is when you're building links to your site or blog naturally, slowly, the way Google wants to see.

Black hat is when you're using software and getting lots of links in very short time.
