Anyone using article marketing to create backlinks?

I am having a difficult time finding relevant sites or blogs to comment on and leave links back to my websites. Also, it seems like the social bookmarking is taking forever to produce results. My sites are indexed, but none are in the top 100 pages of Google yet.

I was wondering if I should just create several articles and submit them to article directories and other web 2.0 properties to create backlinks to my website in order to get my sites to rank quicker?

Is this an option I should use? Also, has anyone else done this and was able to see results faster?

One of my sites is a month old and should at least be in the first 100 pages of Google now since the keyword was used in the domain name.

I've done it in the past but unfortunately didn't really see good results. I've seen others post here who live by it though

I see, how many articles did you submit though?

I am thinking of creating at least 5 articles per keyword and submitting them to at least 5 different places such as article directories, squidoo lenses, hubpages, and other web 2.0 properties.

I have a list of over 50 keywords I plan to do this for and each article will link back to my main website. I am thinking that this will provide at least a 1,000 backlinks to my site.

Has anyone else had success with doing this?

This will work... I just think it takes time and wise placement of your articles... remember higher pr sites is what you are really looking for with backlinks... so not all article submission sites will really help you move up through the ranks quickly...

I will most likely use EZA, ArticleBase, or GoArticles for article submission sites and Squidoo, Hubpages, and Wordpress Blogs or Blogger for the web 2.0 sites.

Yea, it will take a lot of work, but it is time to get my sites ranking.

Has anyone else had this issue where their sites are not in the top 100 pages of Google even though you are using an exact match or very close match domain name?

I thought that alone would boost your Google Rankings a bit. But, that is not the case with one of my sites as it is lost in Google's SERPS and not even in the top 100 pages.
