If my keyword target is "buy book" and buybook.com, org, net is not available. Is it a good idea to buy buybooks.com?

Anyone have any experience with this?

I am testing that out right now at the end of one of my new domains instead of the word today I put it as todays with an s so we will see if it works well or not.

I don't think it will do any major negativity in your rankings, as long as you get a variet of strong links to that domain, using the keyword in the anchor text too, you might be able to rank high.

It depends on competition for them keywords too.

  It is often the better option to use the plural, depending on the market.
  
  You would type in "buy books" rather than "buy book" if you were searching for a book.
  
  Put yourself in the mind of the searcher, then choose the domain, based on the search phrase, you would enter.

I found out that it will work if you have a domain buybooks and let say you're trying to rank for buy book, for me I just had to get few more backlinks and I was ranking for the keyword I wanted.

i think you should use buybooks.com because it is a good option. It has the keyword(buybook)

Yes it is good domain, but i dont think that you will have additional advantage in SEO by taking the domain name included with your key word
