Google Adwords keyword tool rates 75000 searches per month, but Seobook rates only 1200 per month for the same term.
How can there be such a vast difference between the two, and what is the most reliable system to use for searching keywords to use for SEO and articles?

      Agree with Market Samurai.
You might find that the difference is that Google keyword shows you the no of times a keyword gets searched in Google. This doesn't mean the top site will get all the traffic. Usually it gets around 45%, so maybe the other tool is showing the amount of traffic your site can expect if its on the first page of google.

For me though a good keyword tool is way more than just a tool to find how many searches you will get. I use the 'promotions' module to find high pr back links and also reverse engineer other sites to see where they get their good links from. For me this is well worth the price you might pay.

        Market Samurai is really solid.

I have another suggestion however to get great keywords with little competition:

Yahoo! Buzz Index - Today's Top 20 Overall Searches

        (The old "Yahoo Buzz" tool).

I check this at least a few times per week to see the highest searched terms. Do your best to tie them into your niche and you can clean up.

I used to think that this was only a way to get quick traffic and then it would die...but I was wrong. You will still get tons of steady traffic after your search term falls of the list.

To me I have trusted the google keyword tool, It was created to be used for google adwords so I think it would be most reliable. And its google you really want to rank for anyways. It has allways worked quite well for my article marketing.

If your looking to use a free keyword research tool, I would stick with Googles. But If your going to use a paid one, I'd pick up Market Samurai.

    Have a good day!

WordTracker is the best way to search for keywords to use in articles. This requires some knowledge about KEI, keyword density, competition of phrases, and PBR. I write articles at ezinearticles, about keyword research and i also post helpful tips on my fan page on facebook.

I always use google's keyword tool. It makes sense to me that their keyword tool would be the most accurate because it's using their information. Where does market samurai get their information from? Wouldn't they also have to rely on google?

Market Samurai does indeed use Google for it's results, it's the way the results are presented and the other things you can do with that makes it a nice tool to have.

Exactly the reason I use MS as well. Seo Spyglass would be another alternative.

I believe the best is Keyword Discovery, but it is expensive. Also like word tracker, but it does not have as much coverage.

Free tools are not as effective for me. Sadly, some are gone.

check broad/exact match keyword when using the adword tool. exact is a lot more accurate.

Best keyword tool is....... your brain - all those tools only show you where the traffic could be but there are millions of searches for not yet indexed keywords

MarketSamurai uses Google's data so the results should be the same, but you need to be careful how you filter them or the results will be different. The Seobook uses a different database then Google and it doesn't differentiate between plural and singular, and it goes back a year to get the daily average whereas Google goes back a month. Google's new tool seems a lot more accurate compared to the old one, but keep in mind that a lot of keyword tools and analyzers query the searchengines and skew the results.

This definitely sounds like the difference between settings of broad, exact and phrase.

I use a combination of keyword blueprint, Micro niche finder and keyword tracker. I have MS I just don't use it as much.

Then after I get the results I spend some time looking at them to see if they really make sense. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't make any sense at all.

I use both google and market samurai. I tend to average the results between them. When using google, make sure you check the "exact" button. It'll make a big difference.

Google keyword tool is better as it targets google searches, which is what you really want. The best part is that it is free. There are other tools out there but this one does the job just as well. There is a product called keyword rockstar which is very advanced but you would have to pay for it. Depending on how much you want to spend on tools, you can go free or paid.

I would have to agree with everyone here.
I use a couple of tools including the Google & Market Samurai.
If I was to only use one...then it would be Market Samurai.

Play around with Keywords & some of the tools out there.
    Free ones & paid ones.
See what works best with you...then stick to it.
