Hey guys,

I was hoping you could give me a little guidance on some ways to effectively utitlise SEO on blogs for promoting products etc.

What would you say are the best way to make backlinks?

Are there particular article directories that you can submit your blog posts to that will be really effective?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    1. Article Marketing
    2. Forum Posts
    3. Blog Comments
    4. Hubpages and Squidoo
    I have found a better responses for my blogs.You can make good backlinks too.Maintaining all of these are very challenging but can brings a good result.

    I suggest you Article Marketing and Forum Posts. As it will give you best SEO results. Article Writing is bit difficult but it will give best possible result. Forum posting is time consuming so you can outsource this work. Cheers

    Well, Google loves content. You can add words in the descriptions and comments and also add other posts that provide educational information about the products. Another thing you can do is to put some outbound links to high ranking sites in the sidebar as resources.

        Try to find article directories and web 2.0 pages with a high pagerank.

        Ezinearticles,Hubpages,Articlebase,Buzzle,Isnare and Helium have all pagerank 6 and that is pretty good.

        Squidoo have a pagerank 8! so if you want to move up fast you should write a lens there.

        But don't do the "newbie" mistake.

        Let's say you'll have a squidoo account and you make 10 lenses in about one week. The first backlink you'll get will be very powerful but the second and the third will be not so valuable.

        So try to always post articles in different directories and don't put all the "eggs in the same basket".

        Google loves when you get backlinks from differents sites and you'll see awesome results in no time!

          Hi Craig,

          Ezine Articles is probably the best place to start out. You can work on perfecting your article marketing and building exposure to your sites. You should work on things such as integrating your keywords into the title, headers, and body of your articles. They don’t have to be flooded with keywords; just enough so that the search engines have a clear picture of what your articles are about.

          The next thing is article submission sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, Worldvillage, etc. Those sites give you a little more control over your articles and you can publish them instantly. Those sites also tend to rank well in the search engines. You should work on integrating anchor text backlinks to your main sites within your articles.

          Lastly, I’d recommend you try guest posting. There are many advantageous to guest posting. You get to take advantage of all the ranking that site has gotten up to that point. The owner of that site will market your article because it is on their site. Guest posting tends to give the strongest and most natural backlinks.

    I read the entire thread and all the ways that I would use are already mentioned.

    Ezinearticles, hubpages, squidoo, forums.

    I feel that article marketing is the way to go. At least from what I have read so far. You will get the most juice for the link. Hubpages and Squiodoo, the jury is still out on which one is more valuable. I prefer hubpages but only because I have no idea on how to put anchor text in a lens. It takes html and I suck at it.

    Forums are tedious but a great way for instant traffic.

    Il suggest you to buy High PR profile links..there are many packets out there..Angela Edward And Paul Johnson provide a great link packet..which gives you a great link juice for your blog!!

      It takes time to index..it takes upto months to index and some dont even get indexed..this is natural..but be sure that these links are givig you link juice!!

      all your links wont be indexed..

    Craig, I am giving few pointers.

    To popularize blogs, communities are great place to get acquainted with fellow bloggers. Some good blog communities are bloghub and blogcatalogue. Interact with blogger, establish good relationship with bloggers and later on you can ask them for links on their blogs but make sure that their blog is relevant to your product. Next place to socialize here in different SEO forums like DP, Warrior (The Best Place!),v7n and get in touch with blogging threads and dig several unique ideas of your own. As an added task, start submitting your blogs to top social bookmarking sites also. Try commenting on similar blogs but add some value in your comment. If you have any further doubts, let me know.

    1) increase in backlinks
    2) right sites

    You can get high quality backlinks from:

    -web 2.0 properties
    -SB sites
    -Video sharing sites
    -other Article Directories
    -RSS feed
    -Press Release sites

    Get a little bit of that and a little bit of that, and you´ll be fine!

    For SEO you have a major advantage with a blog especially wordpress because it is generally optimized for SEO. What I'd do is do some on page work to ensure that my keyword is known for the site. You can do this with All in One SEO Pack as well as your meta description, h1 h2 tags. If you're in wordpress you might also want to change the perma links to be more SEO Friendly.

    Lastly it would be in your best interest to constantly keep updating content on your site. I'm not full certain but I believe it does add value.

    Then now comes off page optimization. Here are somethings you can consider:
    Article Directory Submission+Web2.0 Submission(Squidoo Lenses, InfoBarrel etc.)- These are great to get some backlinks as well as some traffic the problem is they can be very time intensive but it's good to try a a few to get the quality links.
    Mass Article Distribution- Some services such as UAW can spin your article and distribute it to the masses. SEO link vine and AMA and MAN help distribute your spun article to their network of sites. This is very useful in getting a lot of related backlinks usually and it should work fairly well but fair warning I've heard some bad reviews about some Article Distribution networks. Generally these sort of methods give you more bang for your buck

      Wordpress is the best kind of blog you can go for because:

      1) You can own your own blog
      2) Host your blog
      3) Fully optimize for On Page and Off Page SEO by
      taking advantage of plugins and tools
      4) Personalize your site

      I´ve been with wordpress since I started online and it´s the
      best way to present yourself as an expert in your niche.
      It doesn´t matter if you´re into internet marketing or doing
      stuff for any other niche like "get your ex back" books.

      Wordpress allows you to expand your skills and knowledge on
      your own blog.

    Backlinking just happens if you have a good ping list.

    Sploggers link you up and the blog directories do to.

    The blog we make the most money with on my wife's Adsense account NEVER had a link that we created.

    Just write....when you are tired of writing........write some more.

    Or create auto-blogs and don't write anything.

    I didn't see goarticles on the list...so I will add that..I believe they have a page rank of 6....keep writing daily..no matter what if this is your primary blog...the more content you have the more you have a chance of getting it into the engines....this along with good plugins if you are using wordpress...its also great to do forum posts or comments in sites related to yours...

      Deep linking. Make sure you have links coming in to as many pages as possible. What does it tell a search engine when other web sites are linking to different pages on your site? That you obviously have lots of worthwhile content. What does it tell a search engine that all your links are coming in to the home page? That you have a shallow site of little value, or that your links were generated by automation rather than by the value of your site. Here is an example of deep linking, in this case to my personal happiness workbook.

      Become a foreigner. Canada and the UK have many directories for websites of companies based in those countries. Can you get a business address in one of those countries?

      Social bookmarking. Make it easy for your visitors to social bookmark your website, creating important links that the search engines value. There are plenty of free social bookmarking widgets available.

      Article exchanges. You've heard of link exchanges, useless as they generally are. Article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. You publish someone else article on the history of pudding pops with a link back to their site. They publish your article on the top ten pudding pop flavors in Vietnam, with a link back to your site. You both have content. You both get high quality links. (More on high quality links in other tips.)

    Hi Craig,
    Getting backlinks is 1/3rd of the issue to really get your blogs cooking, how you set up the WP and SEO your posts etc is JUST as important, would you believe that only a couple of posts can get you onto the top pages without backlinking at all.

    Yeah I didn't believe it either until I tried it!! I needed a jump start and once I had it I just couldn't believe my results ... all I will say is what you have read above works but hey some things work a whole lot better!

    How are you meta / Tags/ Category's/ Links / Anchor text/ H1, H2 / and domain set-up?
