What to promote in this case?

Hey guys,

Promoting a specific keyword for my site's home page but Google shows an inner page of this site for this keyword on 13th place.

Should I keep promoting the home page or the inner page? Does promoting the home page will still help? That bugs me that he shows the inner page as a result and not the home page but 13th place is not bad for a site that is up less than a month.

Your thoughts?

    I would prefer you to focus on both and make the search user friendly.

    Let us assume your site is about shoes and you have some category like nike puma etc.

    If user search for the nike shoes and landed on the respected page then the user will find no difficulty in purchasing.
