backlink watch seems to be down completely
Dont know when this happened but it is

Is there any alternative to it

you can try opensiteexplorer.org
First you must register for an account. Then you will gain free access to backlink reports Up to 1,000 links. It's a useful site with lot of interesting metrics.

  Backlinkwatch uses the API from Yahoo's Site Explorer.
  Market Samurai uses the API from Majestic SEO.
  
  You can:
  - Use Yahoo's Site Explorer(Or tools the API)
  - Use Majestic SEO(Or tools the API)
  - Use Google Webmaster Tools on your own site.
  
  There are other services out there offering the same but most of them rely on either Yahoo or Majestic.

You can visit Backlink Checker, Yahoo Site Explorer Alternative Tool 2012 ... very similar to backlinkwatch.

download spyglass...you can also use Ahrefs Site Explorer but you only get about 3 searches per day
