What would be your top 5-10 backlink sites and if you could explain why, that would be great.

I dont have any top 5 backlink sites. Maby top bookmark sites, top article directories and alot of simpel blog link in the body or in the comment section.

  What I mean is, what sites, whether they are bookmark, social networking, blog, etc do you post or blog to that seem to get the best results for finding your backlinks and moving your site up in the page rankings?
  
  I've looked over some people that have posted 100 or more in one post and have gone to several and some of the ones I've gone to are crap. Some seem to just be there to spam you with pop up ads or lock you into their page with javascript.
  
  Sorry, just looking for a handful of good recommendations. I am not looking for any automated tools.
  
  Curious though, how many sites do you frequent to build up your links?

By "top 5-10 backlink sites" you mean a site that comes the most of my backlinks from or a site for purchasing backlinks. Because if you choose the second one i think you should get it off your mind, because google doesn't like people who buys backlinks, try to do everything yourself.

Why do you want to know about our 5-10 backlink site? What's the purpose? I would suggest that you can make your own resources, everyone can do manually on how to optimized their sites.

  If you want to get manual backlinks, you should use a variety of sources. There are lots of ways to get backlinks in content that is not spam, i.e. valuable to people. It starts by creating content, whether it's a blog post, a video, an article, press release, etc. Once you have that, then you can put links in it and link to it.

Top sites which give backlinks are hubpage or any other article directory which allow you to post link back to your website with anchor text.

I think what you need to concentrate on are sites that have high PR and and are on-topic with the keyword or with the subject of your page. Drop a link to your URL, and then try to promote these sites.

You can try to write articles and submit to article directories or forums. Maybe you want to create videos and drop them to YouTube, etc.

I suggest you deal with top boomarking sites in your first backlinking process. Bookmarking sites have decent PR and most of them are dofollow (digg, mixx, stumbleupon etc).

  The other day I was checking the backlinks from a site using yahoo's siteexplorer and found out that it had a backlink from google, obviously with a PR equivalent to 10!!!

I'm guessing what you are talking about is what sites do you link from the most? I don't advise that you use the same site to link to your other sites too often. If the webmaster suspects you are only posting comments etc to get backlinks he will delete all your posts.

I just use my keyword tool to harvest high PR backlinks and then leave a comment on those sites.

You should search for the best 5 sites for your own site. It is manual process.

They should have high PR.

Should be Do Follow.

And also be related to your sites topic.

  You can search for do follow blogs on your keyword and gov or edu blogs or forums and comment leaving link to your site. As already said, high pr article directories, forums and popular social medial sites.

You can look for HubPages & Redgage, I recommend

HubPages is not a social bookmarking site. It is a writing site. However, they do encourage social networking and that seems to drive up the Hub Score they give you. You can write articles and include links to other articles. If your Hub score is more than 75, your links will be do follow.

Redgage has a good Google rank. The links are do follow and they pay a specified amount per thousand views :rolleyes:
