I have been researching and studying how to start with ppc, and how to build a successful campaign by testing and keeping a low budget.

This overall process seems pretty easy. Basically, I've learned that I find a few highly targeted keywords for a cpa offer, build a quality website around the niche, and include banners/text ads for the cpa offer. Then set up a low daily budget, and an ad campaign/ ad group/ then 4 ads to rotate for testing purposes.

I love the analytical / logical and trackable aspect of all of this. It's using facts and real time results to adjust your campaigns and reap the highest reward.

Maybe I'm being naive, but this seems to be the quickest way to make big money, assuming I scale up the successful campaigns properly (and have a little money to spend at the start..).

Anyway, in searches I've been doing on this forum, I can't find any PPC threads started within the last year????

Has something happened to adwords tos or something that has made it less attractive?

Also, is there a reason things like 'Insanity' has zero competition in adwords? can you not use brand names anymore?

Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks

For many PPC has died. Google has pretty strict TOS and if you step out a little bit, you can quickly get banned for life. However, there are many still using it to sell spammy type products as I see ads for them all of the time. Proceed with caution. Get a guide.

    Hi skeetermcgee,

PPC is still very much alive, in fact it is where Google derives nearly all of their income. When it dies, so will Google.

What has changed during the past year was the enactment of tough regulations by the US government on Bloggers that participate in affiliate marketing. They have forced Google to shutdown many types of affiliate offers that might be medical related, undisclosed affiliation or of a dubious nature. Many affiliate marketers have been permanently banned from the program because of past transgressions.

So the field of competition has been weeded out, so to speak, and those that are operating within the guidelines are benefiting from the lessened competition. Having said that, there has been many threads on PPC here at this forum. Here's a link to recent threads that may include discussion on PPC:

As far as terms like "insanity", they are probably taboo for AdWords advertisers. There are certain topics that Google will not allow advertising on.

As long as you follow all of AdWords guidelines you can do very well with PPC. And you are right, it is quite effective when you apply proper testing, monitoring and managing with a well conceived strategy.

There is big money involved in PPC so you will be competing with seasoned professionals that will beat you at every turn until you reach a certain level of competence.

PPC is not dead, at all. Yes, AdWords is giving marketers a hard time, but remember that there is a world outside of Google. Even though they have the most traffic that doesn't mean that other providers get no traffic, at all. They still have more traffic available than you could EVER afford to buy.

Well I am a new guy to network marketing, and google banned my account without a single warning after my website failed to meet there over generalized list of requirements.

After emailing them over 10 times without a single response or courtesy, I just gave up and used yahoo and facebook with no problem.

So with that type of poor service I could imagine, google ppc has put a stranglehold its own business as they possibly gotten to high and mighty with their success from over the years.

I don't think that matters... They are in a position where they really don't care if you advertise with them or not. lol. People are still trying to jump through hoops in order to spend their money with them.

Google is finicky, especially if your an affiliate or pushing shoddy products. BUT...DUDE as someone else has already mentioned, there is a world outside of Google. Don't sleep on Yahoo/Bing and other paid traffic sources.

yeah mighty google does as they please. If i remember correctly Google Adwords makes up to 90% of their profit of the fortune 500 companies. So they feel like not listening to random affiliates who spend a few cents everyday. Def not political correct but probably the most ROI for them.
