Huge PR drop - does it even matter?

One of our main sites, 29Secrets.com, had a huge PR drop from 3 to 1.

This despite hundreds of organic high PR backlinks since the last PR update (including newspaper and television sites).

Our search traffic, however, continues to steadily grow.

Does the PR drop even matter?

I have other sites that have done NO backlink work and have risen in the recent PR update.

If PR doesn't even matter, why do they bother to update it?

They use it for themselves, but we have no idea how, that is why they update it. Don't worry about the drop. PR 3 to PR 1 isn't even a huge drop, its only 2 spots. What do you wish you could have: Less visitors and higher pr, or more visitors and lower pr. Think about that. Do not worry about PR.

Worry on your SERP rankings more not on your sites PR. But if you can get good result for both much better.

If you are still getting traffic that is converting and your sales didn't drop, then I would definitely say that PR is secondary to worry about.

PR is becoming less and less important.

Which should be comfort to newcomers knowing that they never have to have a PR higher than zero make money.

One reason behind PR decrease could be too many outbound backlinks from your website between this and last PR update interval.

It depends on the niches. If the niche is very competitive, the drop would matter.

PR does not prove anything. I have a PR4 site and only 30 visitors each day, one PR0 and 100 visitors each day .

I appreciate many of you saying that it doesn't matter - and in fact, search traffic has steadily grown since the last PR update, so I'm not terribly worried about it.

I am interested in the theory of more outbound links killing our PR, however.

We could readily make them "no follow" links - but does that really matter any more?

I recall someone from Google saying that they've disregarded nofollow attributes for years now.

Traffic is only one which is important for IM.

If you get traffic then everything is OK.

I think you need not to worry. Just do SEO targeting traffic. If you have the traffic, then do SEO for PR.

I hope everything will be OK in the next update.

The only time Page Rank matters is when you're selling websites.

Other than that, it really doesn't matter
