    Current trend: zero.

    Forgetting completely about meta keywords would actually be the optimal thing to do.
    They have lost their meaning to search engines that matter.

      I think you do not want to spam the search engines with too many keyword phrases. I personally stick with few maybe max around 7 - 8 keyword phrases.

    You should have an precise average 6.2839843892948 meta keywords per page on your site otherwise you'll be sandboxed for sure.

    In other words, it doesn't matter because search engines don't even bother with it anymore.
