How can I improve my Adsense CTR on this site?

I launched this site about two weeks ago, so it's still very young -- but I've been driving some forum traffic to it, and my CTR is like 2.5%. I just hit Google's page 1 for my primary keyword, so I want to spend some time to make it better.

Would any of you mind taking a look and offering some pointers?

The only adsense I see is the top link ads bar.

I would add a text/images unit in the top right of your sidebar. Push down the featured images and add adsense...

I added a 200x200 on the sidebar, above the rest of the content. It isn't showing up yet, but it is sized appropriately.

I didn't do that at first because the sidebar is 222px - odd. Approaching it from a "figure it out" standpoint cause me to actually get it done. I just added another box, tossed Adsense in the middle, and put an 11px margin around it to space it right.

We'll see how that impacts things

Add a leader board directly under the header.

I considered this, but it breaks the background of the template. I'll have to re-do it in Photoshop --- do you think it will significantly help? I've always heard that more ads do not always equal more clicks. Am I wrong to be concerned?

I don't think you need to be concerned in this case.

I would say more ads would equal more clicks because your current ads don't have any descriptive text. A leaderboard has more words to entice people.
