It usually takes 1-2 day(s) for me, and what I do is, set up the sitemap go to Google's webmaster tool and send the sitemap to Google, works great.

      Hi zebix,

Submit your site to Digg, it will speed up the indexing process.

      Many successes,

Well, I have noticed that google is taking a bit longer for new sites lately. What I recommend is to sign up on digg, del.i.cious and stumble upon and add your site. You could also create an rss channel with icerocket and then include your site then submit it to rss directories, that will get your site indexed faster.

I have seen reports the last few weeks of people not seeing their site indexed in over 2 months. Just do a couple things like that and it will be indexed a lot faster. Include it in your sig here too!

It's been all over the map lately in my experience.

Sometimes quick, sometimes painfully long. Use the tips in the posts above for more consistent fast indexing. They're not a cure all but do help.

I posted my site and URL on all the well known sites along with creating and submitting my sitemap to google webmastertools as everyone else stated. It does work!

It's hard not to get impatient when you are so excited to get going, as I have been, but you can use that other time very wisely and start putting the wheels in motion. The few days I was waiting for it to index I promoted my site none stop and ofcourse I continue to do that, but overall it will have a great effect.

Also you should do what I did, while you are waiting to have your site indexed, you can submit well written articles and publish information using social sites so that you can bring a nice bit of traffic to your site while you are waiting for it to be indexed. I have also stuck to do this after as it is a great tool to get visitors and I think it is important when you are waiting for backlinks/articles to be published or seen by google.

    Regards,
    Ross.

Hehe, I don't believe you have to be a Shakespear to write well, I believe that if you want to make the task easier for yourself, right about something you can actually connect with, that way you will have to put less effort into trying to sound like you mean something.

      Best of luck buddy!

Here's a secret tip: Take your RSS feed, or your url and "paste" it in the "Public Timeline" of identi.ca You know what? your site will be indexed within 15 minutes.

Google loves this site with a PR of 8 and do follow!

I believe the links are nofollow according to Quirk SearchStatus firefox plugin that I'm using...If what you say is true within 15 minutes...then is it possible to somehow 'energize' our backlinks with it? hmmm

Just comment on blogs or submit your sites to social bookmarking sites.

If your google index is 9,

that means it has 9 pages in its index.

There is No set time in for Google to initially index your site - the time taken can vary.
    The time it does take may vary based upon factors such as;

    * Popularity of the site (Whether it has any links to it)

    * Whether the content is Crawl-able (Server Responses and Content type)

    * Site structure (how pages interlink)

It is possible for a site to be crawled/indexed within 4 days to 4 weeks.
In some cases, it may take longer.

For better indexing of the website, just ping the website in some top bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumble etc and also use some pingomatic tool. This will help in better indexing of the website.
