Yes. Relevancy is a key factor to get the full benefit from a backlink. But it's very hard to find related dofollow blogs for every niches as we need. So we are considering other factors like less OBL, High PR and .edu related blog comment pages to get a valuable comment.

Blog commenting is a a great strategy to follow in making backlinks. I comment on a lot of different kinds of blogs in many different areas.

Sometimes, my comment does not get approved or gets deleted but I find that when I take the extra minute to read the post I am commenting on, I get a lot more of my comments stuck in to stay.

Asking questions like blog comments will be approved than other comments. It's a working method for me.

I would say No. Commenting on relevant sites only sends trinkles of traffic to your site so why should you comment on sites that aren't relevant? In that way, you will be building an audience uninterested in what you have to offer. I hope it helped.

How relevant are you talking? I've usually been fine with links from blogs in the same category (ie - if I have a rose gardening site, I seem to still get a benefit from sites that fall into the "home & garden" category, but I'd avoid electronics blogs). Experiement with it a little bit and see what happens!

Don't just focus on .gov and .edu. Links from other blogs can hold a lot of authority as well.

If you can't find enough blogs in your niche you should go one step higher. Let's say that your niche is dog training. When you can't find any more blogs on dog training, start looking for blogs on animals.

    Hope that helps.

You can simply type in your broad niche keyword in Google Blogsearch.

        Google Blog Search

Or you can enter the following search strings in regular search:

        "niche keyword" + blog
"niche keyword" + "powered by wordpress"
"niche keyword" + "any other blog platform"

        Hope that helps.

You don't actually have to post comment on blogs which are relevant to your niche. You'll want to post comment which is related to the blog's topic. It's very hard to find many relevant blogs to comment on... Just look for the high quality blogs regardless of topic and post some thoughtful comments and your comments will be approved.

Following are most important strategy for blog comment.
      1. Use google blog search to find blogs relevant to your niche
      2. Try and post on doFollow blogs although make sure some are no follow as google will know what's up
      3. Try and post on websites relevant to yours
      4. Don't post a surge of back links and then stop as goggle may penalise you
      5. Use anchor text that is relevant to your blog (e.g. when blog commenting you may put a few keywords in the name field)

it is not totally worthless, there is less benefits than relevant blogs. but still if you have thousand of blogs you can shortlist them according to OBL, Traffic and PR and then reselect them to do blog commenting on them.
