Two Days, then it's off to the gutter

In the past we have relied on SEO, media appearances (he is regularly on Fox) and JV/Affiliates and product launches to generate sales. Also have done some Google, but we have had 3 accounts banned so I've pretty much given up on that.
We have been having some success with FB, however there is something that is driving me nuts and I wonder if I could have any feedback.
We tend to notice that our ads get do very well for 2 or 3 days, and then go to the crapper. Once they have been up for about a week they are literally worthless, Click through rate goes to garbage, cost per lead goes up to about $20/$30. However, during the first few days we are picking up leads for around $6 to $8, which is great in our industry.
Just wondering if I'm totally screwing something up here that my ads are so effective for a few days and then die? Or is this what everyone else gets on FB too?
It's been very frustrating.
