Switching hosts and SEO

I would like to switch hosting company. My site currently has about 500 backlinks. Will switching hosts have any negative impact on SEO?

Also, if i stay with the same host but switch from HTML prepackaged hosting package to PHP based hosting will that have any negative impact on SEO?

    Under most circumstances, changing hosts shouldn't affect your SEO at all.

    There are some situations where a problem could occur:

    - The new host has performance issues & your site suffers downtime or frequent inaccessibility.
    - The IP you are using on the new host may have been flagged in the past.
    - You change your site coding/URLs when you move hosting.

    We have moved hosting many times and seen no problems. In some cases, the increased reliability & performance resulted in improved SEO.
