Question about wordpress permalink

Hi,

I done some research about permalink and found out that if this done correct can increase my seo. But there are some debate that some said by putting default is better and some say customer structure is bettter.

Default: /?p=

Customer Structure: /%category%/%postname%

So which one is better? I need some advice here. Thanks

    From what I have read, the permalinks are better because it puts the Title of your post in the URL. I like to use category/postname in all my blogs.

    I always think /widgets/My-review-of-widget-a/ looks better than ?p=123234 anyway.

      You certainly want to use something that includes %postname% in the url, not the default generic number scheme.

      I used %cateogry%/%postname% on my first couple of sites, but moved to just %postname% on my most recent ones, and it seems to help.

      The reason? If I'm writing a post on Blue Widgets, you want the keyword "Blue-Widgets" as close to the front of the URL as possible and electronplumber.com/Blue-Widgets is better than electronplumber.com/CategoryName/Blue-Widgets

      I've had no technical problems. If you have two posts of the same name, Wordpress automatically adds a # to the end, so you'd have:
      electronplumber.com/Blue-Widgets
      and
      electronplumber.com/Blue-Widgets-1
