Can't get page to rank. HELP!!!

Hi there,

I recently created about 10 pages on my website (1 page optimized for one keyword) and I can't seemed to get any of them to rank for any of the keywords!

They have been indexed but they are just not ranked for the keywords.

Here is what I have been doing.

-Buying a domain
-Install wordpress
-Start building the pages, SEO optimize (keywords in title, meta tags, article body, images, etc)
-Each page has a 1000+ word article and some images
-No affiliate links (i link them to another page with affiliate links)
-Build a couple of backlinks

I would understand if I don't rank well for a particular keyword, but all the 10 pages didn't seem to rank at all for any of the keywords (I checked them at Check SEO - SERPs Keyword Checker and Google SERPS Search Result Position Tool)

Am I doing something wrong here?

Please help!

Your truly,

    Here's how to do it:

    1) Google the keywords you want to rank for.

    2) Find the highest ranking site that isn't Amazon, or some giant corporation. In other words, the highest ranking site that is similar to yours.

    3) That site is your competition. Use the various free resources available to find out how many pages it has indexed and how many backlinks it has.

    4) Once you know what you have to beat, get to work making pages and backlinks.

I have maybe 40-50 backlinks on my site, but the competition I want to beat has about 600. So I will be creating 10 links a day for the next sixty days in order to beat that site. I am already getting close to it for one long tail keyword. It just takes patience, persistence, and a lot of donkey work.

I just tried that Check SEO site, and it is not accurate. Try http://www.searchenginegenie.com instead. Look under their "100 web tools" tab for their Google position checker tool. It is highly accurate.

How long has the website been up? How many back links do you have?

Pages take time to get indexed and ranked. You probably need more than just a few links. Build links steadily over time and you will start to see them rank and gain traffic.

The pages are up for about 5 days. They are all indexed. Does it take so time more to be ranked?

As expressed above, I think your major problem is offpage SEO, or backlinks.

You say you have created a couple of backlinks... I hope you mean a couple of hundred backlinks?

If not, this is your problem, you need plenty of backlinks.

The onpage SEO sounds brilliant! 1000+ word articles, wordpress, multiple pages (not a skeliton site), this is all great. But the time spent on all this "onpage" stuff really should only account for about 25% of your time.

You should be spending time creating backlinks from all different sources with your keyword (and relative kws) as anchor text.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Absolutely agree, You need to build authority to your site, quality backlinks will do that. Try to find high pr, dofollow backlinks from sites related to your niche. Preferably from sites ranking in the top 10 in the serps for your keywords.

      Good Luck.

Just keep adding quality content to your site regularly and keep building one-way backlinks. No one can give you any specific answers without looking at your site.

    All the best.

      -Build a couple of backlinks
You should build more quality backlinks.

Really you should start by analyzing your competitors for that keyword and think if you can beat them.

The 1st simple method is to copy what they are exactly doing and then just do more.

You can rush into the game without a solid plan and a proper research. Estimate the time-frame you can reach your goal.

I have checked on the competition for the keywords earlier in my keyword research stage.

The competition for the keywords are not really strong where many of them have just 10 backlinks or less.

Thanks for this post....I have had similar issues lately. I bought a WSO that stated my sites (with low keyword competition) would rank very quickly with their method but it has been an up hill battle even with backlink creation.

I was on the verge of panic a few times but then had to remind myself of the solid principles of page rank and how nothing is overnight. I continue to backlink everyday but still never know if its to much or to little or if they even have any quality,

You need to differentiate between the number of internal and external links that the top 10 competing sites that are ranking for you keyword phrase have. A large authorititave site like Amazon usually has a page ranked for a certain keyword because of its size, not because the particular page is optmised particularly heavily in terms of external backlinks.
It may have thousands of internal backlinks but relatively few external ones. You can use a piece of software like WebcompAnalyst to find out exactly who a webpage is getting its backlinks from.
Then it is just a case of building inbound links to your site from these sites, as well as more links from other relevant ( link relevancy is important) or related sites with good PR.

Can anyone give me an idea of where a good place is to get backlinks that does not want to charge a bunch of money and will not require a link in return?
