Joomla/Wordpress good for SEO?

I currently use a website building tool provided by my host.I need more functionality (drop down menus, videos, blogs etc) so am thinking of moving to Joomla/Wordpress.

Can anyone tell me, is using a CMS such as Joomla/Wordpress more search engine friendly than other ways?

In other words, can the medium which you use to create a site (ie: web editor, CMS etc) affect SEO?

I also read something about putting a Wordpress blog in a Joomla site which would be really good for SEO.

Any thoughts?

    Google is your friend.

    Joomla + WP for large sites. Otherwise, not really worth it unless you're familiar with Joomla.

      I use both Joomla and WP that I can guarantee that both solutions are great for SEO.

      If I can advise you but I would say that much depends on what you are experienced and familiar with the two solutions.

      In my opinion if you do not have much experience I suggest you start by WP because it is certainly easier to manage and you will certainly appreciate its features. Also about to SEO I guarantee that you will not have problems.

    Wordpress has plugins considering SEO that are really effective and easy to use! So yeah they are definitely good for SEO.

    Never used Joomla, but I swear by WordPress. Nothing beats it IMHO, both for site building and for SEO. I can build a WP site that you would be able to tell apart from a static site.

    Both open source content management systems are good.I love both but i think one should use Joomla for building a big document depository and for building a site you just want to update with company news and the like? Go with WordPress.

    Both are great systems and both can do what the other does, but I think Joomla takes too much time to configure, and too much time to troubleshoot conflicts, especially when your interested in SEO (!) – and shouldn’t every website owner be?

    Wordpress is better out of the box typically, but one bad theme can make it all bad too,

    It all depends what you doing and how your configuring each, I personally prefer drupal over joomla for serious sites, and drupal can be very friendly if set up correctly.
