    I find that Google's algorithm does a pretty good job of matching the ads to your content. They already serve the highest paying ads first. Any filtering you do is more likely to reduce your earnings, not increase them.

    The best way to optimize your earnings is in the quality and relevance of your content as it applies to your advertiser's market demographics. The better aligned your traffic source, content and advertiser's are, the greater your earnings.

    You influence which ads are displayed on your site by your content. Your content can also have a great deal of influence on your natural traffic sources (search engines and natural backlinks).

    You have a great deal of control on how and where you promote traffic to your site. Focus on the two things that you have the most control, your content and your promotional activities, and AdSense will reward you handsomely.
