Is It Worth Trying To Hide From Google?

I'm relatively new to IM and I'm slowly building my list of niche sites.

One aspect of IM I keep hearing is the need to have multiple profiles, i.e. a profile for your health sites, another for your market sites etc. Apparently having all your sites under one identity can affect your Google rankings?

But how far do you actually need to take this?

Do you need separate hosting accounts?, separate identities when registering domains (this legal?).

I understand the need for separate identities for back linking (Squidoo, Hubpages etc) but beyond this seems futile as I've read that Google will almost certainly be able to like your separate hosting accounts and domain registrations etc

Appreciate comments on how others currently approach this?

I think you've read something wrong. Or you misunderstood what you read.

Having different profiles (personas) in different niches has nothing to do with G. ranking... or "hiding" from G. If somebody told you that - they were lying.

It is about credibility! If MrDack is an expert in the health field, I doubt he can also be an authority in exotic cuisine. If one day you a posing as a low back pain healer and tomorrow as fashion expert... my conclusion would be you are neither.

Sorry Istvan, didn't word my question very well (been in front of PC for 5 hrs solid ).

I get the need for different personas for different niches for credibility purposes, I currently do this.

However all of my domain names, hosting, Google analytics etc., are registered under one name. Is this any anyway detrimental to how Google ranks my sites?

Having all your sites on the same hosting account & same whois info, will have no impact on your search engine rankings.

It may come into effect, if you try linking between your own sites.

If you don't interlink, then it will not be a factor at all..

I have all my domains under the same GA account as well as webmaster accounts. I have never encountered a issue doing so.

Think of it this way: web agencies have hundreds of clients, all under the same GA account(s); no big deal

I would be more concerned with sharing hosting and IPs of my domains

Interlink freely, and often. It's one of the best kept secrets.
Why, I have no idea. I could list examples like failblog, wikipedia,
              gasbuddy, ... but I won't.

Some people use multiple accounts as a smoke screen for competition, or If they work multiple niches. Has nothing to do with Google.

Example If I'm flipping websites, I might not want to connect that business to my Adsense sites.

Myself, I hide everything simply because it's nobody elses business what niches I'm in.
