Help with Keyword Research

I am having trouble getting my head around keyword research and was wondering if someone could suggest the best reports, ebooks, gurus etc so I can make a study of it.

      If you have some money to spend, I'd highly recommend Market Samurai.

      After that, if you STILL have money to spend... then go with Micro Niche Finder.

      The combination of those two is PHENOMENAL. A lot of people use only one (typically MS), but they don't realize how they can be used together.

      Not true at all. It may actually be the worst, as it hides a lot of keywords. Keyword Sniper Pro 2.0 that was just released is probably the best.

      The best is "Google Keyword Tool". But don't make the mistake that lots of keywords are the best. My experience is to get about 15 keywords and work with them. Don't just jump into Adwords first. Try Yahoo and MSN and get your feet wet before Adwords.

      Also, you must have a very good squeeze page to send the traffic too. In addition, learn how to customize a thank you page.

      Most importantly, be prepared to lose money the first couple of times if you use PPC there is a learning curve.

    Install SEO Quake (google it)

    Use Google Keyword Tool - Search for terms (always using the EXACT []) Find a good term with at least 1000+ exact unique searches per month.

    Click on the term to bring up the search results, check page rank and incoming links with SEO Quake, and look for the exact match keyword in the Title/Description/URL.

    If you've got a page 1 full of high PR pages (3+) with lots of incoming links and lots of exact matches in title/des/url then you may want to look elsewhere!

    This is a VERY simplified version and there are of course a ton of nuances. PM me if you have questions.

    I use Market Samurai. I always start with a seed word and then group the results into categories / themes and dig further.

    Market samurai is good. Traffic Travis also has a free version, all these tool mainly fetch data from google keyword tool itself so try to get good in that.

    Can I just ask, why would you recommend doing research on 'exact match'. I mean, how many end users know how to run an exact match on Google? Google by default doesn't return results on exact match does it?

    Surely what would be more relevant would be the phrase search figures as a percentage against the broad match results?

    First rad the basics and analyze then use google adwords for your keywords research. Determine the most related research keyword for your site.

    As alraedy mentioned above. Google keyword tool is great. Sign in to adwords and go from there mate. It will give you a list of keywords that are specific to you.

    Guys, the Google Adwords keyword tool is not "great" by any means - it hides the majority of the related keywords! If you're using the GAKT or any tool that relies solely on it for its data, then you're missing out on sooo many keywords! Do me and yourselves (and your income) a favor and go look at Keyword Sniper Pro 2.0!

    Don't go after keywords that are competitive. When beginning out, only focus on a few & those that are not getting high total searches per month. Then, it is all about links.
