Link Not Hyperlinked - Still A Backlink?

In recent efforts to outrank the top 10 for my niche, I have been trying to posts comments on their blogs and get backlinks from them. It's worked alright, nothing great, but a few backlinks.
Today, while writing a post on a PR2 page, I noticed that after the comment was life, the link weren't hyperlinked, as in they were plain text.
Does Google pick up on this and give me a backlinks...? Or is this plain wishful thinking?

Some have debated the effect of a URL having some weight even if not hyperlinked, but if your keyword isn't hyperlinked I would just drop it and find another place to comment.

No, search engine will not considered the plain text, may be it can list that resource page in SERP's during search for your keywords. Keywords with hyperlinks will always have a worth in SEO.

I think Google would still pick up to that, as long as it is dofollow.

Please read the OP's original question. He mentioned that his link is not clickable, as in plain text. In this case, google will not discover that as a link as it's only a plain text.

If a "link" is not a hyperlink, it is not a link, it is just a URL. There will be no backlink and hence no passing of link authority.

There will only be some value if someone likes you comment and then cuts and paste your URL into their browser and then visits your site.
