Domain name and search engine ranking ?

I m new man here . Using worrier forum from past 15 days and found it awesome source for internet marketing knowledge.

One thing i learn from this forum about to choose domain name with a keywords which have higher search immpressions on google keywordtool . if i choose one domain name with .in extension ( in case .com and .info not available ) will they have higher chances of rank in google search . Or i need to update it regularly to make it search engine friendly ?

i m not much experianced in search engine marketing.

Pardon me for any english mistake . i m poor in english

    I have read to only go with keyword.com, keyword.org and keyword.net Im sure others will tell you the same.

      thanks for your reply.

      but in case all 3 extensions are not available and if my site is Good in content then all other sites with .com,.net ,.org extension , will it have higher chances to be in better place in search engine on just keyword basis ?

        If you want to target all regions you definitely need to prefer .com domains. .in sites will have a higher visibility only in google.co.in when compare to other Google domains.

        Better you can choose the .com domain that is related to your keywords ( i.e ) no need to go with an exact keyword.

    I agree with Wonderd. I only get .net .com or .org but if those domains are not avaliable, you can get your-keyword-here.com or org/net. It works ok.

    go with the top 3 TLD's usually at least one of the 3 is available(.com,.net,.org)
    I would not go with .in at all! Go with .co ! It is the next best alternative and is arguably now better than .net!

      If you planning a site that mainly provides information then .info would be the best choice, but you should also try to get other major extension just for safe keeping if still available. If the site is ecommerce site then .com would be quite appropriate or if you planning to target only certain country like UK for example then try to get .co.uk

    ONLY go with .com, .net, or .org all of the others aren't ranked as well in the search results. Look at the ratio of domain extensions and tell me how often you actually see a .info.

    .in are specially made to target Indian websites and Indian traffic. So the SEs may give the domain name priority for the searches made from the corresponding geographical location.

    The domain name just has a little impact on keywords ranking. Not to put you energy on it. Instead, you should try you best to do on-page optimization like writtting good content and off-page optimization like building top quality links.

    Keyword in domain with extension like .com, .net or .co.uk are good. Only keyword in domain is not important but other aspects like content originality, nos. of pages, backlinks also considerable.
