If you're building backlinks to your site, how often should you backlink? And how many per day is alright in order not to raise ire from google?

I'd like to know this too, but I don't think a place like Google has a fixed number on the amount of links I am trying to build.

I have had luck doing about 10-20 links per day (per site), about twice a week. At first I was doing 20-30 a day almost everyday, and I was not seeing much improvement at all. I have been doing the twice a week thing for a while now, and it is working well.

Maybe you didn't give it long enough to see results from the 20-30 links per day. I just cannot see how Google is going to discern a difference between 20-30 links per day and 10-20 links twice weekly.

I am just saying that I saw best results from submitting twice a week. I agree with alex saying that you can add more as time goes by.

Try to build 10 up to 30 backlinks a day within 3 months and I'm sure your site ranking will increase. And 5-10 backlinks a day for the next succeeding months.

You should be consistantly building up backlinks to your site each day, maybe 5-7 a day, and as your site increases in link popularity and gains trust in the search engines then you can build more each day

I would start 20-50 links a day. But the main point is: do it EVERY DAY.

I don't think there is a set limit. I think the best thing to do is look at the sites that rank #1,2,3 and so forth...

These are really the benchmark for the most relevant site for your phrase. If these sites are building hundreds of links each day, you better be building hundreds of links if you want to see results. On the other hand, if these sites are building only a few links each day, follow suit. If this was the case, then you would have to closely follow your competitors and make sure to copy their link building speed.

It's hard to tell if there is a limit for the amount of links you need to build. It could be possible that Google can tell the difference from key word to key word. This means that Google might know that for the phrase "build muscle now", links slowly trickle in.

On the other hand, Google might just have a generalized rule that says there is no limit. This would be the case for new big budget sites. Why would you penalize a site that receives hundreds of links overnight from news and media? I don't think they would because that would be unfair and it would negatively effect the quality of search.

In the end, I think you should forget about how many links you build and focus on quality. Consistency is important, but not really as much as quality. As long as you keep the amount of links built monthly, focusing on gaining real links from reputable sites is key to high -long term - ranking.

    Thanks,

    George

It doesn't matter how many you build. There has long been a myth that if you build too many backlinks you will get slapped by google and that just isn't true. If that was the case I would build a ton of backlinks to my competition in one day so they would get penalized. (This is exactly why google can't enforce such a policy)

So if you want to build 20 per day, 100 per day, 1000 per day, go for it!

Guugle doesn't penalize your site for spam. What they do is if their algorithms detect that you are "spamming" your marketing they will not index all of that "spam".
