Can't believe nobody is lighting up the forum with a thread on this yet.

Have you checked your results lately?

Last night about 9 PM Google results went crazy in most niches.

I'm following threads in other forums of hundreds that are confirming. I'm just wondering if anybody is seeing normal rankings at all? Note a few datacenters are still severing old results.

This is definitely a major update. I would term it the "Dark Floating" update because we're seeing tons of sites using black hat tactics rising to the top. In almost all niches. I never seen as big as a F-UP by big G.

There was an algorithm update a day or two ago, most likely that however if you are not using spammy techniques or doing things you shouldn't then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Its been no secret that google are clamping down on a number of things.

I literally have no idea what you are talking about.

You are terming it "Dark Floating"?

I am terming this thread "Brown Floater" because that's exactly what it is.

I'm using both spammy and not spammy techniques and none of my 1k+ stable keywords are showing anything out of ordinary (**** happens sometimes, but seriously nothing out of the ordinary).

All this panic about Google updates is ridiculous. If you look over this section of the Warrior Forum, you'll find at least 1 thread/week about a "new Google algorithm update".

Can you please PM me some links to those other forums/threads?

I usually am a with you on that. One person's ranks blow up and they think the whole world is crashing down.

But, I have never as much talk about one change in as long as I can remember. Even more than the MayDay update.

Have you ever thought that maybe that that blend of spammy and non spammy and high quality is actually making your backlink profile look extremely natural , after all you only have to make a blog post and it gets grabbed by a **** load of scrapers, websites value tools etc etc etc which isnt a bad thing , its the people that think profile links, directory's, link farms by the thousand but no qaulity links in the mix that are getting hit.

Nothing wrong with being diverse, its the best way to be.

Fair enough comment, can't argue with that.

But yeah I doubt that anyone's getting "hit" at all to be completely honest... I guess time will tell eh. Time for me to get some rest lolz.

To be honest i still think its the back lash of thier last algo update at the end of jan clamping down on scrapers and its even possible they have now let loose their plan to start cracking down on content farms meaning alot of the people using low quality content ( i.e sites like paid blog posts with 3 links in and a crappy spun article ) sites are also going to loose alot of backlinks, hence the possible drop in SERPS

Dark floating? Sounds like a dark floater, maybe a sinker!

Come on people. For every site that falls, there is a corresponding
        site that rises, so...........?

Your site dropped...okay...someone new took its place! For them,
        things are peachy!

I wish the "peachy" ones would post more.

Where do you people get this stuff from???? We have to spam and
not spam, to look natural???? Where did this idiotic natural nonsense
start? Oh. The person who rode the brown sinker, no doubt.

        Paul

There's nothing to "buzz" about. Of course they are constantly improving their algorithms. There was no super "dark side" change/update today/yesterday... Have your websites suddenly dropped or gone up? How many keywords/URLs?

EDIT: thanks for the link, I'll read through it tomorrow. But seriously, I haven't noticed anything new... Yes some "easy" stuff stopped working in the last month or two, but that's about it...

Nothing unusual has happened to any of my sites. The only recent major algorithm updates I've heard about is social search.

Here's a video from Google about it:

    Confirmed, Google crack down.

Official Google Blog: Finding more high-quality sites in search

But in the last day or so we launched a pretty big algorithmic improvement to our ranking—a change that noticeably impacts 11.8% of our queries—and we wanted to let people know what’s going on. This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful
