How Long Does It Take?

Hello.

My EMD site landed on the second page after minimal backlinking. In the last 2 weeks have added about 100 blog comments (a mixture of PR 0 to PR 4) and there has been no shift.
It is not a competetive niche with the top spot occupied by a site with 50 backlinks and another EMD on page 1 with no backlinks. How long do I need to wait to see a change?

I don't know what EMD means, but it can take time. I am not an expert at short term rankings, but I think focusing on just one key phrase is a mistake long term. For example, I checked one of my sites that just yesterday received 1993 searches for 1481 key phrases. It took a couple of years to reach this point, but I really don't have to worry about traffic anymore because the site is viewed by many. I have several sites like this.

Having a plan for quality growth of your site results in a site that people come to visit repeatedly. Once you get to that point, you end up focusing more on the people, and less on the search results, but you get both in the end.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

The site contains 10 pages and I am trying to get the exact match domain keyword to page 1. I am looking to make 'short term' the business model where the sites are sold off after 6 months.

It still amazes me that people make money doing this. All this blogging, etc and SEO just to bring in eyeballs for something the people doing it don't really give a crap about just goes to show you why I have no sympathy and google probably doesn't either. Gone are the days of people putting good/real content out there, now most is no better than marketers spamming your inbox.

I think Google are taking proactive steps to prevent spammy sites and makre sure results are most relevant. Only a matter of time before certain SEO techniques are weeded out and sites with quality content which people naturally link to are at the top of the the SERPs.

in web promotion, there are no instant results. You have to focus on your strategies in order for you to witness fast changes.

It will take some time for all of those links to get indexed by google and many of them may not ever stick. You might want to consider a steady flow of a few links each day from a wider variety of sources.

If you are on the upper part of the second page it shouldn't be too long before you bump to the first page. It does have a lot to do with the competition on the first page, but it just takes time. With some steady link building you should be there soon.

it will take at-least 3 to 6 months or longer depending on your keywords. If you have just taken a guess at what keywords you want with no research, expect failure. Getting to the front page of Google is usually a precise effort and doesn't happen by accident.
