When you leave comments on blogs for backlinks, do you also link to your site within the comment itself (in addition to the name and url field)? Is the comment more likely to be denied if you place a link in the comment itself? Should i avoid this?

It really depends on the blog that you are commenting on. Most blogs will deny your comment if you place an irrelevant link inside of the comment field.

If your link does not relate to the post then I would post it in the provided URL field.

There are many ways of doing it, but those are rules I follow.

if blog comment section allows you to post link with text then never enter url again .

it will be taken as intence to post backlinks

Aproval chances of such a comments are also low

ah so putting it both in the url field and also in the comment is a bad idea then? it will likely be denied?

It depends upon your reply. Usually admin will approve his comments only if it useful for his visitors. So you can use the link in the comment section wherever it is appropriate.

It depends on how relevant your comment is, if you put a comment which is not related to that particular blog, there's a big chance that the blog owner will delete it.
